Just read this quote (Thanks Nero!) and it certainly rings true for me.
"We used to have phones that took photos. We now have cameras that make phone calls."
I've always had a 'fab phone' so have two to consider, but on one I currently have 4500 photos and videos and the other around 1500. I've probably made a dozen phone calls on one and around 30 on the other so far this month.
Add in the amount of time spent on here and elsewhere on the Internet and is there any logic in calling them phones anymore when we (ok, me for sure) use them for other purposes more than actually making calls? 🤷♂️
Just to be nosey.....what's your current photo/video count? 🤔 |

I have over 600 memes and cute/funny downloads. I think only about 3,000 are rude. Which is quite something considering I was too shy to take a boob photo 3 years ago. 😂😅 |

I keep saying I need to have a clear out and never get round to it. It's mostly shite that people send me on WhatsApp. Now I know the extent of how many items there are, I definitely can't face clearing that out 😅 |

I can't stand clutter so apart from the 71 pictures of my sons wedding I don't have any amount of pictures, I have 50 and most are of my dog or random snaps of whatever I find appealing at the time. And screenshots of what I'm listening to on Spotify

But that's the point.
I'm old enough to remember sitting on the stairs with a corded phone chatting to girlfriends and getting moaned at by parents for running up a huge phone bill.
Phones aren't really phones anymore and far more than just communication devices.
They're definitely used more as cameras than anything, whether that's just for personal memory collection or a means of sharing images on social media or elsewhere online.
How many people even own a camera these days? 🤔 |

I rarely use the camera and never used to phone people for long. But then I always prefer people to get to the point 😂. I’m old enough to have the phone line engaged constantly by being on dial up internet! |

I have 3 and a half phones in current use.
The half one is an old blue and white Nokia which I only use to receive medical text messages but I know that it will receive them because its battety only needs charging once a month. That one doesn't even know what a camera is, has no idea what data means but does have a good FM radio.
The phone I am typing on is my domestic phone and also gets used as a hotspot to provide my internet access on laptops. I hardly ever ggogle things on it but use it always for fab forum updates. I probably have 20 or so photos on it but don't often use it as a camera and if I do I normally move the pictures onto an external laptop or memory stick.
My newer phone is mainly used for medically related calls and texts and is used quite a lot for diverse internet googling and for listening to online software defined remote radio receivers. It has a better camera than others of my phones but I still dont take many photos and, again, usually store them elsewhere unless I particularly want to keep them to show people.
My third smart type phone is my social phone and is used almost entirely for basic talk or text exchanges. There are hardly any images stored on it. I never consider using it as a camera when out and about.
Apart from fab forum on this one, I don't use any of them for web based phone apps, social media etc. Any emailing I do on a computer with a decent keyboard, certainly not on one of these things. I can wait until a suitable time to deal with them as well.
So, effectively, I am the exception who doesn't regard the devices primarily as anything other than a conventional mobile phone phone or basic text messaging aid. Despite owning or carrying more of the things than most people, I don't lead a smartphone centric existence or take pictures very often.
It might have been different had I been born, like others, into this day and age and lifestyle! |

I only have a handful of photos on my phone at present and most of those are pieces of machinery taken apart, I photo things as I progress throu the job so I can reference them when putting it back together, it’s very useful to know exactly how many shims were each side of the collar when reassembling.  |

It just proves once and for all how positively atrocious they are at taking half-decent photographs. 20 shots in succession just to get the right one, if at all.

I have 91 with another 27 hidden, on my phone. The photo app from Dr G, well that’s another matter. I have over 10Gb mostly family, holiday and landscape photos but I do have a few hundred in a locked folder. |

5816 taking up 16gb of storage on main phone.
I have a spare I recently had to factory reset, and most of the photos off that were transferred temporarily to this one. Also lost a few hundred with the reset |
