Do you tip food delivery drivers?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I tip no-one as a matter of course, ask for the voluntary gratuity to be taken off my bill and press 'no' on the card reader without embarrassment. I tip when I receive service that I consider to be way above average, not for someone just doing their job. Also, before I tip I ask if the tip goes into a communal pot or directly to the person that gave me the tip-worthy service. If communal then I'll surreptitiously slip whatever I'm tipping into the server's hand with a handshake on my way out. Their decision whether to share or not. |

Nope. I feel guilt sometimes, but I refuse to pay extra when:
1. You receive 30% less food OR pay 30% more when it’s delivered (because Deliveroo take a 30% fee).
2. The restaurants charge you for the overheads and “tax” as if you’re dining in, even though you’re not.
3. You already pay a delivery fee.
4. You already pay an order fee.
5. There’s now a customer service charge too?
6. You have to pay £2.50 to have it delivered fast so it’s not cold.
7. Most of the time stuff is missing or squashed.
So nah after all that I’m not leaving a tip too. |

Food delivery was a lifeline for me when I was house/bedbound earlier this year.
Yes, I do tip. Generally 15% with Deliveroo which is my app of choice, I do it directly on the app because I don’t always carry cash (trying to correct that)
We also get delivery from Pizza Hut and our local one employs teenagers/young adults who are just starting in the world of work- with them I normally tip at least £5, always in cash. The beaming smiles and thank yous I get are worth every penny.
My son (aged 20) delivers groceries part time alongside Uni and he messages me when he gets a £1 coin as a tip all month or a chocolate digestive or a jammie dodger lol 😂😂😂😂
I understand there isn’t a tipping culture in this country, but the argument of “that is why we pay fair wages to staff” makes me go pfffffffffffffft 😂😂😂😂 |

I don’t tip if I use Uber eats. Something about them asking for the tip before the food has been delivered doesn’t sit right with me. In any other situation I give them a quid plus any loose change I have. |

"And if so how much and do you do it via the app or directly in cash?
If there are any delivery people here how many tip you? Do you get the full tip if it's done via the app. "
I do and anything between £2 and £4. |

Always -£1-£2, a fiver around Christmas when I am feeling generous. They are always very appreciative.
Hard workers who work horrible hours, who often have more than one job. If everyone just gave them a quid it could mean they may get an extra hour a day with their family 🤷♂️

Always tip a few quick.
They work horrible hours, run like crazy and deliver their package with any weather.
But if someone is reading: stop driving your stupid e bikes on pedestrianised areas like maniacs, or one of those days… |

"Always tip 10 - 15 percent. I'm highly suspicious of anyone who prides themselves on not tipping.
You're a troll
You're a cheapskate "
Better than being a saddle who is too stupid to take part in discussions so just trolls. |

Always try to give at least £1, sometimes £2-£3 if I have it. I always try to give something to the first homeless person I see too, can’t afford to give them all something..lol.
