Depends what you mean by be with them and how much they don't love animals.
Couldn't have a serious relationship with someone who doesn't love animals, but would have a casual one off with someone as long as their dislike of animals doesn't extend to mistreatment. |

I don't have pets, mostly because I live alone and I'm not allowed pets in my flat. I don't hate animals though 🤷🏻♀️ so what does that make me? 😂
Some people are just ambivalent about animals. Does that mean they're not a good person?

I guess what I'm defining is someone that has a strong dislike of animals. Mostly referring to domesticated animals more than anything.
I've met a few people who just strongly dislike animals. |

I like people who have to stop and say hello to every dog or cat they see in the street. That's my kind of people. |

I have no pets - as in the ubiquitous dog or a cat. I have no plans to have one either because it's a responsibility I don't crave for.
I do, however, like animals. I'm not an 'animal hater'. Therefore I would be surprised if that was a deal breaker for someone looking to be with me. |

Hmmm if someone actually hated animals then it would make me think,but I also know that not every person will have pets for numerous reasons

I'm allergic to cats and not a dog lover (though I'm happy that people have their furry friends) and have birds and scaly beasts in my house. Each to their own I say, and it wouldn't affect how I view someone.
Although on a side thought, people with pets have more constraints on their time, how long they can stay away for etc. That can be a factor. |

I could yes, I could be with someone who isn't as much of an animal lover as me. I am someone who will be late for work to rescue an animal, I feel the foxes, and rescue birds.
I couldn't be with someone who is cruel to animals or was indifferent to them. I ended a friendship because she was moving into a place that wouldn't accept dogs, if my dogs don't go then neither do I. |

No I couldn't,
My filter half wasn't really a cat lover when we met, but he loved the 2 I had.
They've sadly both gone now, but we have more cats that he dotes on.
Animals are a big part of my life and I wouldn't want to be with someone, who either didn't like them or was mean.
So I get you op. |

I love animals! We have 3 cats and a fish (kid who wanted the fish forgot it exists). The kids lost interest after a few months so it's just me, crazy cat lady who cares for them.
Mr likes animals, he'd just rather not have any more responsibilities than necessary  and I get it, it's a lot. I sometimes think he had a point, but don't tell him that  |

I’ve not eaten any of them for 11 years now, cant say that I love them all; I just don’t think that my pleasure takes precedence over their lives.
I couldn’t get involved with a person who actively and obviously disliked or mistreated animals. How I define that and where I personally draw that line leaves me in a bit of a quandary. It was one of the reasons my last long term relationship ended. |

I could be with someone who didn’t want any animals. I get it. After my dogs are gone I don’t want any more pets. Not because I don’t love animals, but because you restricted in your movements.
However, I could not be with someone who mistreated or was unkind to animals.

I would hate to have a pet because I couldn't stand the smells/mess etc. but I don't hate animals per se. In fact, I am big believer in conservation and preventing destruction of wildlife habitats. Just don't ask me to pick up dog shit  |

This in a nutshell. I introduced one early date to my parents cat. My date was indifferent and did not acknowledge her. It did not work out. |

You don't have to be an animal lover to be nice to them/take care of them. It doesn't mean people who don't love them are out and about abusing them.
Anyway what animals? Ones that are traditionally pets or a broader spectrum? |

Yep, I really like spiders but find guinea pigs utterly insipid, however I take care of my neighbours ones when she's away. I'm not sure what that makes me? I eat meat products perhaps making me complicit in animal abuse 🤷♀️ |

I don't really like animals but I would never hurt them, and I'll always give them a fuss, I just don't want them or care about them beyond that fleeting moment when I see them. I don't think that makes me a bad person. |
