What's your threshold?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I have a decent pain threshold. Gallbladder flare-up was a bitch. So glad I had it removed. Broken big toe was also not fun. I also suffer from plantar faciiatis so first 10 mins in a morning are agony |

I had surgery too. The surgeon was excellent and tried a new thing on me in the form of a titanium implant I'm my spine. I'm happy to say that although I've got a level of paresthesia and low level pain I can walk miles and have full mobility and flexibility. I'm extremely happy with the result.
As you can probably tell |

I think generally women cope with pain better than men. I certainly do do compared to the men I've had in my life We cope with periods and child birth as part of the course, would like to see a nanny cope |

I have a high pain threshold. Loved giving birth but getting stitched up after was defo getting up to a 10 when she wouldn’t give any more anaesthetic
Plantar fasciitis pain probably an 8 at times but then when I had half my tooth removed and the root was exposed for a week I didn’t even notice the PF pain - 11/10 for tooth/ear stuff! |

CRPS in the early years was hell.. I can handle it better now 11 years on though.
I thought childbirth would hurt more.
I mistook appendicitis for period pain and a stomach bug for 3 days.
Stubbed my toe on my crps side and almost threw up.
But if I get a paper cut, I cry like a baby. |

Ive given birth with no pain relief although I was begging for an epidural by the end and it was to late.
I also tooth ache and when I went to the dentist id been walking round with my tooth split in half for two weeks Second time I broke my shoulder I walked round with it broke for a week as I couldn't be bothered to wait in a&e for 24 hrs. So I do have quite a high pain threshhold |

I gave birth at home unplanned, I remember the paramedics asking I wanted gas and air to delivery the placenta, I just laughed saying I’d delivered the baby without it, I could cope. But the stitches in hospital were worse than the actual labour!
Oh and I carried on playing in a rugby match having dislocated my collarbone so assume I have a fairly high pain threshold. |

Played sport all my life and certainly no stranger to a broken bone or torn ligament (thank you hurling!) but the most painful thing over ever experienced was a proper dead leg. Absolutely excruciating!! |

Mine is quite high I had colitis real bad till I had surgery when I was 28 and the pains I would get with that were immense and think it conditioned me to tolerate it well, that was the worst pain I ever experienced
Not so much pain but horrible feeling was having to cough or sneeze in the days after a full abdominal incision not fun haha |

My pain threshold is low...I'm a wuss and I know it.
Worst I can remember was having a dislocated toe pulled back into position. Was given gas and air. How women give birth on that shit I've no idea! |

Sorry to hear about hubby. I am incredibly lucky as I can manage the pain. I remember once actually been in floods of tears, as I needed meds, and i couldn’t physically walk to the chemist. Luckily one of my friends went for me.
My mate does have it worse. I think hers actually burst which sounded horrible. She had to have back surgery and have it taken out. Best thing afterwards she said. Mine isn’t in that category and she is same age as me. |

Haha I did. It was a walk in the park compared to the pain in my back. But I am on a road to recovery. At least with childbirth, I have my wonderful son, with a painful back it is just ouch. |

Absolutely!
My CRPS is limited to 1 arm and shoulder but sometimes just a breeze or patch of sunlight sets it off and I'm a huge baby about it! For everything else I'm ok after years of rugby and all the injuries with that, pretty high threshold I guess - but CRPS kicks my ass far more than I like to admit over the last 20 years - thankful that it hasn't spread beyond the damaged nerves but it's a concern!
Hope it's an LPD for you! |

Motorcycle accident
Shattered Pelvis and cracked Saturn
Using your arms to move because your legs don’t work
I have a new respect for people in chronic pain and people in wheelchairs
I was very lucky to be bolted together by a very skilled team and made a full recovery

Mine started in my left knee, if it's a bad day I feel it from hip to toes. I used to feel very mild discomfort on my left shoulder blade, like I was being touched lightly with sand paper, but recently I've randomly got the alodynia type symptoms in my left shoulder and arm too. Rain hurts it. I feel sunburnt all the time. And when my kiddo wants to cuddle me it stings a bit when her hair touches my arm. It definitely hurts less than my leg did in the early years, but it's more annoying than my leg pain because it's not my "normal", if that makes sense haha.
Hope you have a lpd too |

I'd say my pain threshold is pretty good, but gallstone flare-up's are agony! Luckily I haven't had one for a while. It usually requires morphine to get rid of it. I'd say it's an 11 at its worst.

"I have quite a high pain tolerance, usually keep working when my disc at L3/L3 goes wonky, back at work the day after having a finger amputated. But kidney stones or a quinsy stops me in my tracks"
Sounds like you do. |
