I've been down a tick tock rabbit hole and now contemplating purchasing a wig!

So many women are absolutely rocking wig life. So many options and instant good hair days!

So my questions are:

Would you, or have you tried them?

Would it put you off someone if they were wearing one?

I don't think I'd be able to stand the heat or the itch.

I might have to brave the bare bald head if there was a need in years to come.

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest

If it was being used for a medical reason (hair loss due to chemo), no.

If they have a full head of hair and are using one, I'd think it odd.

I have human hair lace wigs sewn in mostly. I love them I have about 5 different ones to rotate each month to keep them from shedding to fast.

Good thing with human ones is I can shower / wash etc in them

When mine are bonded in most people don’t even realise as I have a hairline / scalp visible / baby hairs etc. I just don’t let people run fingers is all as they will feel my cornrows underneath the lace where it gets sewn attached onto

Cheap plastic wigs for like 20 quid from temu sure they are itchy after a while. But proper high quality ones around 350-500 pounds are awesome if looked after will last a couple of years

I haven't, but I've got a lot of respect for people who do it to protect their type 4 hair, or for religious reasons.

I've been looking at a few like that . My hair is so thin and breaking sadly . It doesn't ever look nice so this seemed a good option

That's tough. Fine/thin hair definitely comes with challenges.

I'd stew under the heat of a wig and my thick hair

Have you tried protein treatment for your hair, OP? unless I overdo it - too much protein also increases brittle hair - something like the Shea moisture manuka honey power treatment can help.

Not sure what your budget is but I can give you some names of good lace wig brands online Unice / iseehair/m do nice quality solid hairs in lace fronts or full 360 caps. Ranging from 90 upto 500 + dependant on length / hair type etc

Look up Ali express for those two sellers. They are two of the most used in beauty / fashion for affordability

I have naturally abundant, thick and gorgeous hair… so wouldn’t contemplate wearing a wig. I am very lucky and hope to keep my mane for much longer.

And no, a wig would never put me off someone!

I used to see a woman who had her head shaved who wore many different wigs. Short bob ones, long ones, various colours. She rocked them all.

I kinda liked her shaved natural hair though too !

I also know a few women who wear them on their OF pages, in an attempt to hide their identities.

In addition to above.

I think peoples acceptance of a guy wearing one and a woman wearing one, are very different

I agree with you both. Whenever I see a woman with a shaved head I do admire it and appreciate it. I think they carry it well and look incredibly smart. I think my acceptance / appreciation (I'm choosing my words carefully and respectfully here) stems from having seen the late Persis Khambatta in Star Trek: The Motion Picture many many years ago. She looked utterly resplendent.

Ah I can understand why you'd want to try a wig but maybe consult a trichologist first about supporting your natural hair

My hair is my trademark, I love it. No way I could cover it up

I've had some lovely synthetic wigs from hair anatomy on tik tok. It became a bit of a guilty pleasure watching their lives 🫣
