Hi darling, I can't stand people who use that term 'woke' having said that I forgive you, as you are using it in a positive manner.

It's a bloody ridiculous example of criminal damage.

If I spray painted " Nigel Farage is a twat" on 100 roundabouts, I bet there would be loads of people publically calling for me to be arrested 🤷🏻

Society can't have it both ways!

Nope the hot cross bun doesn't even represent that (although it's used for it nowadays admittedly), It was originally for Eostre (goddess of Dawn, and fertility oddly ) and was actually to symbolise the 4 qtr's of the moon.

It got adopted by Christianity later on, and that was on them, so can't really be used against them, when they adopted a Pagan ritual in the first place.

If the interest on their liquid assets plus stocks and shares generate above what a normal person has to work 40 hours a week for on minimum wage.

Assuming 4% that's a little over 600k. Realistically most people with access to more money have access to much better interest rates though.

At least that's where I'd start to draw the line on maybe it's time to restore order once the billionaires are devoured and we're running down the list 💜

I think not wanting to bang people nearly three times their age is a pretty reasonable line. Frankly one I'd recommend drawing much closer to the twice mark, but that's just my opinion.

When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich.

As the wealth gap grows and the masses become more hungry and desperate, what is the alternative? 💜

Sure, I mean there have never been any revolutions or major conflicts caused by the uprising of the downtrodden. Why would that suddenly become a thing out of nowhere?

If half the population of Scotland are claiming benefits to be able to have what is deemed enough money to survive, while 7 people have net worth of over one billion, which is at current minimum wage approximately 40,000 years of working 40 hour weeks, and you don't see the problem with that, I can't help you 💜

As to the Nike trainers and Xbox, how many actually poor people do you know?

It's funny how people don't understand the paradox of tolerance. In order to have a tolerant society, we must have no tolerance towards the intolerant. If we find ourselves tolerant of the intolerant, then intolerance will destroy tolerance itself. I, and I hope most people, consider the targeting of marginalised groups to be intolerant because I have a lick of common sense 🤷‍♂️

There's a famous quote that escapes me, on trying to fact check or make sense of this kind of thing. It isn't ignorance, it's a game. By trying to think that the game is being played on the same field of reality is to give it a dignity it doesn't deserve, and indirectly lend it credibility.

Oh I'm not making any judgements about it. People who don't have enough for a reasonable quality of life should be able to get help, regardless of their age. I was asking simply because of your mention of a particular generation. Personally I find millennials far too tolerant of unacceptable working conditions and am genuinely happy to see the next generation refusing to do it.

I was more interested in your answers to the other questions to be fair. But if you want to stick with the bits you can deal with that's okay 💜

I think that people should have the basics to be able to access society - including job applications, basic communication, etc.

If it were 1995, then yes, a phone is a luxury.

It is 2025, and unless you're all hoarding all the phone boxes, paper applications, in person appointments etc...

Times have changed. What people need to access the very basics in life has changed.

Well, seeing how rainbows are being painted on crosswalks when they have no business, I find it hypocritical for some to complain and judge Brits for painting crosses on roundabouts in the actual country those crosses belong to. If one is allowed, so should the other. I am no Brit, but this country took me in and I am thankful for that and think any native or guest should be allowed to praise the nation's own traditional flags.

I never said anything about game systems or shoes. You said that.

I said things like ability to access basic communications.

I think people should be able to use the phone. Mobile phones are often similarly priced to landlines, these days, and are more widely useful. Services are now difficult to access without the internet, and it's being discouraged.

I'm not saying anyone needs an XBox.

I'm saying people should be able to apply for jobs, pay bills, etc, in the ways that are considered normal by the rest of society.

If you want to conflate that with designer stuff, that's on you.

Well that has nothing to do with what I said, but deflection seems to be a common tactic. However, if it's a choice between that and a government that demonises people who have the same skin colour as I do, take a wild guess at what I'm choosing.

Except it really isn't... It's all about intent and ine is used a symbol of including a group into society and the other is used as a symbol of saying certain groups are not welcome. It's completely different.

"Well, seeing how rainbows are being painted on crosswalks when they have no business, I find it hypocritical for some to complain and judge Brits for painting crosses on roundabouts in the actual country those crosses belong to. If one is allowed, so should the other. I am no Brit, but this country took me in and I am thankful for that and think any native or guest should be allowed to praise the nation's own traditional flags.

Best comment of the entire thread right here.

Except it really isn't... It's all about intent and ine is used a symbol of including a group into society and the other is used as a symbol of saying certain groups are not welcome. It's completely different."

Nail. Head.

But we can continue to pretend Mr Robinson's mates just found a sudden urge to fly a St George's Cross outside Londis.

I love in London. There are formal, carefully placed flags everywhere (ever been to The Mall?). Nearly every building flies a Union Jack. This country very much celebrates his flag and heritage - we lead the world in pomp and circumstance. I actually think it's disrespectful to The Flag to daub it on some random roundabout! 🤣

"A phone not a luxury item ?? How entitled are you .

Again. Without a means for employers to contact you, how is someone supposed to gain or retain employment?

I get it, your generation lived in a world without the technology. These days, you need to be reachable by something other than post or pigeon.

I own my own home and don't have a landline, because it costs as much as my SIM only contract and is much less useful 💜

People only tell on themselves. They think some people should not be entitled to access the very basics to function in society.

A mobile phone , Xbox or Nike trainers are not the basics to function in any society .

For a self confessed and proud ‘wokey’ you don’t appear very tolerant of others 😂🤣😂

If you do not have a mobile phone, how will a prospective employer be able to contact you at their convenience, when the standard in current society is email or phonecall?

That's your interpretation. The problem with too many people on the hard left is they think everyone who does not think like them MUST be wrong. You say "inclusion" I say too many use it the same way to judge others. But to me, the cross was here way before the rainbow flag. You either allow both or you don't allow either. If you say the cross is used as a negative, and the other side says the rainbow is used as a negative, who makes the call whose opinion is most valid and correct?

I used to see myself as woke but in recent years with emphasis on polarised politics I find myself rejecting the label due to associations with certain activities and it causing a bias over neutral topics. The world would be boring if we were all the same

I think, like me, she's come to the conclusion that you have no source of data on xboxes or nikes, so she chose to focus on the simple fact that modern society requires the availability of a mobile contact.

I was working with the HMRC today.

Without a mobile phone, there are certain things I would have been unable to do.

Not because I'm a millennial. Because that's the way the HMRC works.

But it's more fun to blame a bunch of people born in the 80s and 90s to actually realise that society has changed.

"Except it really isn't... It's all about intent and ine is used a symbol of including a group into society and the other is used as a symbol of saying certain groups are not welcome. It's completely different.

That's your interpretation. The problem with too many people on the hard left is they think everyone who does not think like them MUST be wrong. "Conformation" is factual based, not opinion based which is what you have. You have no facts when it comes to what you think I meant. You wanna interpret what I wrote to fit your narrative, go ahead. I for one am a foreigner here in the UK, and I praise Brits who wave their flag to take pride in their nation and its history, just as I would in my native homes. You wanna wave or paint a rainbow flag, then you get to see others paint and wave their own. Either accept it, or get over it.

It's ok, I'll get a crayons out and do them a drawing because I'm so tolerant of their needs 🤗

You’re only allowed 3. Remember what you did the last time your crayons came out.

I'm surprised you'd be happy to allow more than 1 colour to be fair.

I’ll pick your teddy up as well FFS

Careful most teddy bears are brown so you don't want to give people the wrong idea that you're helping it.

Awesome a typical default response when woke is discussed on here FFS

It's just a bit of banter. Why are you getting so sensitive over it?"

It's only sensitive when we do it. Duh.

Your first sentence just confirms nativity on your part. Also, regarding your "inclusion" comment, did you not see my spiel on tolerance or did you conveniently ignore it because it doesn't suit your narrative?

"Conformation" is factual based, not opinion based which is what you have. You have no facts when it comes to what you think I meant. You wanna interpret what I wrote to fit your narrative, go ahead. I for one am a foreigner here in the UK, and I praise Brits who wave their flag to take pride in their nation and its history, just as I would in my native homes. You wanna wave or paint a rainbow flag, then you get to see others paint and wave their own. Either accept it, or get over it."

But then by your own comments, it's you interpretation that they're flying those flags out of patriotism. What evidence do you have that it's not being used as a symbol against marginalised groups? I can out 2+2 together and see the increase in flags going hand in hand with a rise in far right rhetoric. As far interpretations go, I think it's a pretty fucking solid one to make. If you can't see that, then I can't help you.

I repeat...

"And again, how many poor people have you been to the houses of and seen their stash of Nike trainers and Xboxes? Or have you just read it in some tabloid dirge? That aside, friends and family may gift things that they think will bring someone a little joy for Christmas or birthdays, such as footwear or an entertainment system. Most friends and family are not able to gift a suitable job that pays a living wage 💜

As you don't know me or my life your the one making a lot of presumptions to suit your agenda. If a mobile phone is a priority in your life then I pity you .

It wasn't a presumption, I asked a question, it was an either or for what would be the most likely to my mind, but you are more than welcome to interject with the actual answer for your source on poor people having Nike trainers and Xboxes.

I'm going to ask again, even though you're clearly determined to not answer the question.

If you do not have a mobile phone, how will a prospective employer be able to contact you at their convenience, when the standard in current society is email or phonecall?

I'll not even go into how access to healthcare and banking services are reliant on having a mobile contact number to even gain access to the system and verify accounts 💜

I can't believe your just said that . God help us all if your generation can't manage those basic things without a mobile phone.

So tell me. Enlighten my terrible generation. How does a prospective employer reach out to you without a mobile contact? Bearing in mind that every other applicant for the job will have immediate access to a private phone line and their emails and be able to respond immediately.

And again, the source for the nikes and Xboxes, please 💜"

Emails are readily available from your local library for free by the way which is people actually used would still be available everywhere. Pay as you go sim cards would allow people to phone you at all times without the need for a contract or smart phone and plenty of places offer free WiFi if you need it. Don't need an iPhone or other smart phone to access email/websites as older cheaper phones will allow it albeit not as easy.

Also, a council painting a crosswalk with rainbow paints in an attempt to seem 'woke' is not the same as some man who thinks his freedoms are being stripped by migrants rather than billionaires painting a red cross on a roundabout

What so your saying people without mobile phones won't get offered a job . And as for the Xbox and Nike trainers I have seen several families pleading how the can't feed there kids and yet the kids are wearing £100 trainers and have an Xbox and Sky tv .or is Sky tv also a necessity.

What far right rhetoric are you on about. I'm enjoying seeing the flag but so far havnt seen any racism of fascist behaviour. Well apart from that free Palestine protest that got way out of hand after the synagogue was attacked.

I fucking love Jews. Jewish culture is the best. I just don’t happen to like genocide. It’s quite possible to think the two. And book burning? Bit of a precedent for that mate, and it’s not on the left.

yes this is correct, as someone looking for work, a personal device is considered essential. Unfortunately you've been manipulated by the media into thinking that everyone claiming benefits is like this when that is not the case.

It's pretty funny how people talk about the "intolerant left" and yet I knowing this was a thread for "woke" people, others still had to stick their opinion on to disagree and not be tolerant of who the thread was for.
