Sadly, as recently diagnosed type 2 diabetic, I have to seriously rethink what festive foods I'd be indulging in this year. As a lot of traditional foods are high in fat and sugar. My previous "loves" were mince pies (particularly freshly made from Sainsbury's or Morrisons), stollen bites, marzipan, lebkuchen (soft gingerbread). |

"With you in the Xmas cake !!
A seasonal delight indeed
Along with home made mince pies 🤤
I will admit though I’m having a curry for Xmas dinner 🥳🥳"
Oh no, I’m just eating the food, not wearing it
I do love a warm mince pie. Not a euphemism. |

"I love Christmas cake too, especially the icing and marzipan. The best bit of making the cake is eating the off cuts afterwards.
Aldi do some gorgeous chocolate covered marzipan 🤤"
Ohhhhh yes they do! I’ve been very restrained and not bought any for myself yet. |

Roast duck on Christmas day with a sour cherry sauce as do not need something as big as a turkey although I do love a big bird.
Venison on Boxing day to use up the cherry sauce and all the left overs |

Thank you, it's going to be quite an adjustment. But there is no way in hell I'm going to have turnips in no bacon bacon, or whatever other gross food is Facebook or Insta going to come up with so not to "offend" diabetics... I'm not offended at all, I hope you all very much enjoy all your festive goodies. And I'll try to find some festive goodies that would not affect my sugar too much. |

Indeed and I find if I have the sugar in the evening I sleep it off by morning so dont really effect me i have to be more careful around the fat content as on a very low fat medical diet |

Smoked salt and Garlic for Xmas day to go with the roast turkey
I love Xmas pudding and calvados with a custard crème anglaise ..

Sprouts.
Love 'em anyway, but for some reason, this time of year they fill me with the most joy.
(Possibly cause I'm an ornery cunt, and I like testing my friends patience in their kitchen. The sprout hating bitch).
Liver pate. Only time of year I buy the stuff, even though I love it.
Advocaat. Snowball, anyone?? |

Meant ‘on’ the cake not ‘in’ 😂
On as in agreeing in sentiment of xmassy comestible , not on as in yourself perched atop the cake |

"Love a mince pie and shed loads of cheese (especially camembert for dipping bread, potatoes and sausages into on boxing day)
Having a curry on Christmas Day this year and can't wait. "
It's all about the Camembert!
We went out for Indian last Christmas. It was a nice change! Might do it again this year and have the tradition Christmas dinner another day. |

I cook at Christmas, and when my grandparents were alive we always had a traditional dinner. But since they passed we decided each year we will have what we want based on what we like and fancy. Last year we had a roast and it was great, yeah before that was a curry. Just depends what we all want.
The important thing is eating something you all enjoy and having a treat 😊 |

"Pigs in blankets and bread sauce
Oh and the boxing day sandwiches made from all the Christmas dinner leftovers"
Was in Aldi this morning and nearly bought pigs in blankets for lunch, but resisted as had a curry waiting at home.
Love brandy butter on piping hot Christmas pud. |

I absolutely love Christmas cake with marzipan and icing but nobody else likes it in my family. So each year I treat myself to an individual portion mini cake bar from a bakery in Swansea.
I also like mince pies and have one as a weekly treat on the lead up to crimbo when out & about with a coffee.
