What do people usually come to you for?

In my job I have to remain pretty calm, come up with a solution and sometime take the heat off other people. So in a work environment that’s why they have me.
Outside of work. I give diy stuff a go, sometimes fail, but people know me for that I guess?

I keep my eye on him, make sure he's doing okay. He told me I was like family to him which was very humbling but nice to hear. |

People frequently come to me to ask to be introduced to someone, or to ask for free entry to something.
I only had the realisation last year. Now I use that as a marker for people I don’t want to speak with.

Fixing cars, building flat pack, repairing broken things. It's amazing how many people cant follow simple instructions, like IKEA simple.

People tell me loads, not sure why. I suppose I give off a trusting vibe. Also the last few year People keep asking me to help with DIY stuff 🤔 which is a mistake I'm terrible at that!...think that's because I'm getting older and people expect that 🤣🤣 |

Money! I stopped all that tho, noticed when they got the message no more meant no more I never see or even hear from them anymore.
Now I've got a few female friends who just like to moan on about their problems, don't mind that but when u give them advice and they don't take it and keep on doing what they moan on about it gets tedious! |

I think that's true , I get asked a lot too or even just for DIY advice. I think you underestimate your own advice sometimes if you've been doing diy for decades (even badly) younger people can learn a lot from you .... and of course being retired people think you have unlimited time ! |

Money. Every other email or phone call is trying to get us to spend money. It got tedious a long time ago. They've been told to do one, but the message never hits home. It used to be double glazing, now it's finance, tech things & phone systems.
