Dream career if you could start again?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I’d work my butt off to become a doctor.
Too late to go down that way now, especially how committed I am to my current job. But if I could go back to secondary school now, get my head down and work way harder to get the grades and subjects to apply. |

I would travel the world as a tourism reviewer. Stay in a country for a few months, eat the local food, learn the language, sightseeing, hidden gems. Then write a review about it and encourage others to visit. Then move onto the next one.
I would have a social media following so I'd be mildly famous, but not famous enough to be recognised in real life. This would also be an additional income. A few TV appearances encouraging Brits to travel to x country for a budget friendly holiday. A few sponsorship deals would follow. A cameo appearance in the annual Soccer Aid charity football match.
A scandal involving a British family who travel to a location I recommended, only to be struck by a global warming catastrophe. Some of them die. My reputation is in tatters. I retire from social media. I quit my job. I become a property investor with the money I've saved over the years and the connections I've made. I find a lovely woman, get married and we have a bunch of kids. I become super husband and super dad. I live in a hot country with cheap food and an easy life.
I wake up from this dream. Why did I wake up?? Send me back! |

"Always wanted to be a chef in the RN.
Well did half of it I’m a qualified chef. "
I nearly joined the RN. Wish I had done. If I'd survived the Falklands I'd be retired and a fabulous pension. Plus a lot of travelling and fun I'm sure. Best service in my book. |

Scriptwriter/director or something in that vein.
I know the old saying..."its never too late"...but for those not in the industry, unless lightning strikes and you hit it out the park with your first script, its at least 10yrs hard slog to get your name noticed.

"Or open my own coffee/craft shop.
Sewing/crochet & crafts are my passionate hobbies now. Would love to combine all.
I love baking also. "
Can we do one together please? Call it Stitch and Sip, Crumb and Craft, Loom and Latte or something of that sort |

I always wanted to be a Nurse when I was little
I did take the Police entrance exams and passed but I never got picked for training
Now I would love to run a little B&B on the coast aimed at dog owners and mountain bikers |

"To be fair, I'm already doing it. But a pro dancer would also be awesome."
Be careful what you wish for there
If you enjoy people screaming at you if you put on an ounce, discussing you like you aren't in the room, being forced to dance on injuries that would put footballers out for months and 18 hour days, you'll do ok |

I am quite fortunate that I have started multiple careers but never ended them
Left School and joined Navy, trained as chef
After Navy worked in Psychiatric Hospital and trained as Psych Nurse
Became a bus driver
Went back to Uni and studied Accountancy and worked as a CA
I funded a lot of these courses etc by doing 3 or 4 jobs. For 30 years I worked in the evening as a Door Steward in a number of pubs/clubs
During late 1990’s whilst working as an accountant in Budapest I got into the Porn industry and was in a number of short films. I still from time to time go back to further my experience in erotic massage
Whilst at Uni we made money as a Dancing Bear type dance group
I played drums for a number of years in a wedding band
I am a reiki master
I was into Boxing from the age of 13 until I tore my ACL and quit fighting, I still coach the sport along with Chinese Martial arts that I have been into since I was 6 years old
Never been someone who sits on his arse idle for more than 5 mins.
Was area coordinator with a marine rescue unit refloatimg cetaceans and used to lecture Vet students at Glasgow Uni who were interested in working with said cetaceans.
During my teens I was a schoolboy signing with a Scottish Premier League Football team
Yes I have had a rather colourful life and a young lady in here once suggested to me years ago that I should write a book about my life
Currently work with ASN/SEN children as a child psychotherapist

If I could start again which of my many ventures should I have stuck with
Started the band whilst at school back in the 1970’s when musicians made money unlike today when your lucky to earn anything so might have prolonged that
Or
If I hadn’t got injured I would have continued in a professional combat sport
