Heard my first ice cream van chimes of the year today…… in my head I was screaming “mum!!!!…… “

So what things take you back?

Somewhere In The Ether…

An unusual one; the scent of colouring chalk.

Happy memories (even though I’m sure inhaling all that chalk dust can’t be good for you)

Round the bend

Green beans. My grandad had an allotment and we would sit and shell them in front of the open fire, that we had spent the morning rolling up newspaper for.

A lot of rock music...specially Rainbow and Ac/Dc. As a kid, they were rarely seen so there was a lot of mystery.

Has anyone seen the Ai generated clips on the socials of scenes such as "you've just woken up in 1996", and it's the old style street lights, 90s programme on the TV, 90s decor etc, with a real soothing music playing?

I find it really weird how much they connect with me, and bring memories/feelings flooding back!

I was walking the other week and looked down at all the litter feeling quite sad about the state of the area, when I noticed a faded and rusted can of Quattro….that automatically took me back and alleviated some of the negative feelings!

Not sure, what everyone else calls it, but as kids we used to call it scrumping with the risk of being shot by a pellet gun in one particular person’s garden, many happy memories

The smell of opening a sandwich tub.

Licking warm chocolate from a wooden spoon.

Seeing a big old 50p coin.

The taste of pink and white nougat.

Walking bearfoot on the beach and that feeling you get when you stand at the water's edge and you feel the water move the sand around your feet and you get the funny sensation you are moving backwards.

Christmas tree decorations.

The smell of crayons, play-doe, plasticine, a candle being blown out.

Seeing Commodore 64 demo cassettes for sale at the market.

The sound of a Sega Megadrive or a PS1 starting.

Challah bread.

I'm not Jewish, but my Grandmother would nearly always have a loaf. Whenever I eat it, I'm transported back to her kitchen...

Land of the Long White Cloud

Runner beans.

My Mum had a medieval-looking bean slicer she used to clamp on to the table then we would sit and turn the handle and feed beans in to it, one at a time.

Of course I would have to eat one or two while I was doing it as well.
