Random acts of kindness.

Who else thinks random acts of kindness make the world a better place?

Have you done something lately, or is this a reminder to think about it in the future?

Something which may insignificant to you may make a huge difference to someone else's day.

I took my boy to a fun swim day last week. Stood in a massive queue and were told we would be the last to be admitted.

The little one behind was absolutely devastated, so we gave them our space and did something else instead.

That, but I also miss when we could do nice things without being accused of doing it for ulterior motives.

The world of social media has only made this worse.

Make sure the camera is rolling and all that.

lol It's a fair point. My posts aren't positioning though. I say things about myself that I know will make people want to block me or warm to me either way, I just don't care.

I also think these threads are fine, I don't carry your cynicism 🤣

A little kindness goes a long way.

Mr W often stops at a cafe for something to eat during his work day, and often asks to pay the bill for someone he thinks could appreciate it. He does it anonymously on his way out, so nothing to gain but make someone's day brighter.

I use it as quite a good potential narcissism detector 😎

TBF the people who twig my narcissism radar are more likely to screech virtue signalling when someone talks about being kind, than pretending to bother to be kind. Your mileage may vary, of course.

In a thread about it, I have no problem with people sharing things I’ve done but I’m a big believer that if you are IT you don’t need to shout IT from the rooftops.

In my experience narcissists love to appear to be kind and charitable people who publicly do these things so they appear to be nice people. They do it for their own gain not because they want to do something kind for someone. I have a neighbour like this and it’s fascinating to watch

I think there are opportunities for random acts of kindness everywhere. From helping an older person with their shopping, buying forward a coffee in a local coffee shop to handing in goodies to your local emergency services to enjoy on their busy days.

It’s always nice to be nice and you will never know when you need that kindness back. You never know what anyone is going through and small gesture could really make someone’s day 🥰

Last week I took a load of pants to the charity shop and made sure I washed them first. The staff were busy so I hung them on displays myself - selfless.

B&M is a charity shop, right?

Wasn't your son disappointed op?

I think it's good to be kind and I can't see a problem with mentioning it.

I really don't like the trend for publicly humiliating people by giving homeless guys trainers and videoing it though.

He wasn't, my boy has a great deal of empathy for others which makes me proud.

We went somewhere else and had a great time. Turns out we both enjoy clip and climb.

I always thought it was normal to help others. I think our society has become toxic and selfish to a certain extent. However, there are still people out there that do good things, including acts of kindness for strangers.

In the past I helped a lady who had too much luggage for one person. 2 large suitcases and 2 smaller ones. No lift. So I asked if she needed help, she said yes and then I carried the two big ones up the stairs. When she made it to the top she was so grateful. I continued on my journey, and she continued on hers. That's life. We are all passing each other by, and we help when we can.

I see that as anormal thing to do for a decent person though I have to say the world has changed and people have become more self centred than ever before. Sad but true imo

I will always try to carry out acts of kindness every day if possible, there is so much negativity in the 21st century and one act of being kind can help to combat that and restore one's faith in the power of human nature to do good. Mx 😈

Course you do,you know when you'll need someones kindness yourself, little stupid thing, like a parking till with an hour still on it,that 47p the person in front is short on their bill, put it on mine, walking to a fuel station with a jerry and a car pulls over andoffers you a lift, things like that,i always do them, and I was unexpectedly rewarded few weeks ago, when a lady saw me diving through my pockets for a trolley coin because theres always loads that dont need one,and that day there wasn't, and she gave me one,i saw her on my way out and tried to give it her back, she wouldn't take it, that pound coin now lives in my centre console in my car,and will never be used for anything other than a shopping trolley, and everytime it makes me think of that day and makes ne smile.....its the little things in life that make me happy.

Often. I'm very local community minded. If everyone took care of their local communities, the world would be so much better, but unfortunately greed, money and selfishness has been so heavily promoted the world over.

Look after your immediate locale and the knock on effect is enormous.

I had something like this a little while back. I was in a hardware shop. Young woman in line before me had a baby in a carrier and a toddler. She had a sink plunger but was flustered to realise she came out without her purse. I knew she had walked there because I saw them on the way in. She was just about to put it back when I told the guy on the till to put it on my list. Said to the girl " it looks like you've got enough on your plate already." She said thank you and then burst into tears. You never know what people are going through.
