I’ve experienced this once. Doesn’t phase me in the slightest.
As for not replying. Often messages get lost in a sea of unwanted cock. I ask those who I’m really in to to bump the message with an emoji so I can find them again if I don’t respond after a while |

I tend not to message flirt with anyone unless I have a really good vibe that they will reciprocate.
However if the scenario you describe did happen I’d be disappointed that I’d read the situation so badly. And I think I’d back away from forum flirting too. As a self protection mechanism. |
