"BMW i8
Mustang Mach E

What else "
I have literally come back from looking at a mustang mach e… my Prius is due for retirement!
Also looked at a tesla model y… it had those fancy 20 inch wheels…. Was chatting with the sales bloke and I said I was looking for 19’s…. He was saying the 20’s looked better to which I replied “I’m 51 not 21! I need comfort!”
I can’t believe I “son’d” the poor fella … |

I couldn't never buy a Tesla, 1 hate the interior, 2 hate the exterior, 3 it supports Elon Hitler
I only made the thread because I saw a Mach E as a maccies drive thorough with the most Middle aged crisis guy in it one could imagine |

I have my eye on a Morgan Aero 8. But im torn between the hard too (which gives serious moody dark night type vibes, or the soft too so i can enjoy the summer air. Hmm, think I might need two of them! Proper midlife crisis! |

"We're giving mid-life crisis cars a hard time, but I'd sooner meet someone with one than anyone who wants to talk to me about fuel economy in their Toyota Yaris.
🤣
Whatever you say Gramps "
Haha, I know. How's the Yaris doing?
Did you take the A452 to get here? Good choice. |

"Tvr Tuscan (The widow maker) every time... Or a Tvr Chimaera...(slightly less likely to kill you) I seem to recall it won the Top Gear midlife crisis car competition a few years ago... "
I had a Cerbera for a few years, in my late 20's. Great car - when it worked.
I'd say i'm past my midlife crisis, some may disagree but i'd love an RS6 |

"Not sure if I’m in mid life anymore, but this Ol’ Boy is hankering after an F-Type. "
Try a F-Type SVR. Available in both coupé and convertible body styles along with having all-wheel-drive, it features the same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine from the V8 S and R, but has a maximum power output of 575 PS (567 hp) |

Sounds like a lot of fun, right up to the point of trying to get out of it, which is why I’m hankering and not actually owning! |

Did you know the first car in the first scene in the first episode of the Sweeney was a green Ford Capri mkI, not alot of people know that.
I want one, had a mkIII in 1985.
The mkI's got me hooked.
Alternatively I always had a soft spot for a Vauxhall Ventora 71. |

"If I had a midlife crisis, and thought a car would get me through it, I would go for a 1959 Cadillac with great big fuck off fins. "
It's spectacular. Needs a huge driveway.
You wouldn't want it parked on terraced street, the neighbours would hate you, two parking spaces.
My fave Am drive would be a Mustang fastback or a 73 Buick Boattail.

When I had mine, I took the convertible route, and went for a Volvo C70 - but avoided the diesel and 2.4 petrol engines, and spent almost two years looking for and eventually finding a relatively-rare T5 Sport...
....I loved that car - it turned heads not only because it looked great in its Ice White finish, but because it could leave boy racers in their hatchbacks standing... |

There's a middle age guy that drives about in a Lamborgini he wears an awful leather jacket and the car itself is one of the ugliest I've ever seen it's like a mustard yellow with matt black wheel covers, plus I've never liked those cars.
He flys about in that thing like a race car driver it's ridiculous. |

I still have my cerbera 4.5! One of two TVR’s at the moment. Hope it’s not a mid life crisis car. I’ve always had something silly as extra cars. Not sure what it’ll be when the time comes!
TVR’s offer so much fun and character. They are hard to beat. |

Had a meet with a couple on here over 10 years ago as a singleton and discovered we were both TVR enthusiasts and on a well known motoring forum lol. The missus had to put up with us nattering for ages before any fun started |

I've seen a lot of Tesla drivers getting out, who would have liked their comb overs ruffled in the wind if they had had a sunroof. I'm guessing the wind also reduces the number of hairs anyway,as they get tugged out |

"My midlife crisis has me desperately craving a Porsche. Specifically a 944 Turbo, in Gaurds Red.
Excellent choice, Sir. Values have rocketed somewhat though, you’re buying at the wrong time …"
I know dude. And those values are keeping them out reach at the moment.
I might have to settle for a 944 3.0 S2, or a 996 Targa. They're still relatively "cheap" (for a Porsche) and a bit unloved 😂 |

You could get the Boxster 550 for less than those two and still have enough cash left to half fill the tank with some premium to get home |

"Yeah, but it’s not the same is it. Nowhere near."
The 550 is nowhere near a 944 Turbo...despite it also being rather rare, with more BHP and faster 0-60 time and better handling with the mid engine configuration?
I'm a little confused what its lacking |

"Still got my mid life crisis car, genuine New York taxi cab to show off in and go to shows...... nto had a bonk in it yet but give it time lol"
At one point (before getting my convertible) I was seriously considering a genuine NYPD patrol car, which had originally been imported for film/TV work - it still had a fully-working light bar, multi-tone siren, and a shotgun rack! |

Tesla?? As a midlife crisis car??
A midlife crisis car (in my view at least) is an impractical choice. One that puts a smile on your face because it's silly. One that you thought would be impossible to obtain during younger years. One that tickles the senses from the noises it makes, the feedback through the steering or even the way the door closes and how that feels...
A Tesla is none of those things. Fast yes, but also completely soulless.
I think Porsche would probably be the brand that I would associate most with a 'mid life crisis car'. It wouldn't be my choice when the time comes, but I see a lot of 911s with a dude in shades behind the wheel and no one in the passenger seat 🤣 |

Probably more years ago than you’d care to think.
They’ll all be on their 2nd ladder chassis and 4th engine by now. |

The "original" Widow Maker was the 1970s Porsche 911 turbo. Because with the engine right at the back, and without traction control, abs etc. It had a tendency to flick the tail out if accelerating too fast out of corners. Even professional race and rally drivers would often find themselves in hedges and ditches. |

The beast was the legendary 1965 AC Shelby Cobra 427. A 7.0 litre Ford V8 producing 585 bhp in a car weighing 2,600 lbs. Used to literally rip up tarmac under hard acceleration. Caroll Shelby would place a £ 5 note on the dashboard, and challenge customers to try and reach it under hard acceleration. They never did. |

It was tested on the newly opened M1. And the police couldn't catch it. Everytime they radiod ahead to the next patrol unit, it was already passing them. Original 1965-1967 Ac Shelby cobra 427s are now worth between 1-5.5 million dollars. A 1966 AC Shelby cobra 427 supersnake. One of only 2 made was sold at auction for 5.5 million dollars. With dual Paxton superchargers, producing 800 bhp, Capable of 200 mph, and 0-60 in 3 seconds it was the world's fastest road legal car in the 1960s. |

Only 2 AC Shelby cobra 427 supersnakes were ever built. CSX 3015 owned by Carroll Shelby, which was sold for 5.5 million, and CSX 3303, which was sold to Bill Crosby, who later wrote it off in a fatal crash. |

Bit of useless trivia. The first car ever to feature louvres was the Lamborghini Muira. Lamborghini engineers wanted a rear window so the driver could use the rear view mirror. But the V12 kept misting it up. So they used louvres so the driver could see out the mirror, but the heat from the V12 could escape from the engine bay. |
