If someone thinks somethijg has value, it's been offered and then it's rejected. But was it valuable, and as you say it wasn't ever had or taken. Just a play on words by the person offering to try and save ego? |

Hahaha yeah I love it when people say that too. I'm like... If it was my loss then I'd feel something but I don't so really you're projecting.
Or when people say that they're the best thing you've ever had |

I once had a guy shout after me “you’ll never find another bloke like me” after I had just dumped him.
Yeah I thought. And thank fuck for that! |

Those youngsters will never know the feel of the breeze in their hair on a flat out mobility scooter. |

"Can you really lose something you've never had??
Always makes me chuckle when someone says "your loss""
It's rather similar to the ubiquitous "thats an easy block" when one stranger shares a post that another stranger doesn't like, in some kind of public demonstration of cleverness and superiority. |

I was once told it out on the drink by an overweight woman 15 years older than me who sounded like she had smoked 500 tabs a day for the last 50 years after she had spoke to me briefly about the gym then offered her number to go for coffee and I said no thanks haha |

Loss. No
Miss out, kind of. By not doing something that may very well have made your life different for the better (whatever it may be), you may never knowingly feel the effects and difference but the universe will know it was a missed opportunity - or you dodged a bullet of course. |

Always makes me chuckle when someone says "your loss". Whenever someone says to me your loss I reply back my choice."
I generally say, that attitude justifies my choice. |

Not yet mate, to make matters worse about a year later I unknowingly quoted a patio and driveway for her mother and step dad and got the fucker to do haha |

I've seen it said on here when people post about being stood up and someone will inevitably reply that it was their loss based simply on a few pics on a profile.
I laugh when I read comments about it being someone's loss because their filters or preferences don't allow the commenter to message them but it's an idiotic response because they weren't looking for them in the first place so obviously they haven't lost anything.
I've had it said directly to me by women and couples who have messaged with demands as their opening gambit and I've politely said no.
How it can be my loss when they contacted me and not the other way round I've no idea?
It's usually accompanied by being called a time waster which once again is strange as I hadn't initiated contact. |

I suspect it’s less a statement about loss, more about reclaiming their value as a person. ie if someone is rejected and says “Oh well, it’s their loss” I don’t think they really mean that - as you say, they never had it. What they’re doing is affirming to themselves they are worth having, to prevent a spiral of self loathing and maintain positivity. |

Have you still got her number? (asking for a friend, naturally!) |

So if someone says ‘your loss’ in a message it’s not your loss. But from all the no show threads it’s also apparently their loss for being a no show.
So if you’re not interested it’s not your loss but if they’re not interested it is their loss, have i got that right? |

I went to see my mum today and didn’t get an Easter egg.
I woke up without an Easter egg and I’ll go to bed without one. I never had an egg but yet I still lost.
In terms of fab, no it’s not your loss. |

It's also their loss if you're trying to impress a complete stranger who's been stood up and starts a thread about it. Closely followed by... They must be mad. |

Imagine if Jim Bowen could only be bothered to utter "your loss" instead of "come and have a look at what you could've won".
Bullseye wouldn't have been the same. The total ingomnity of hearing the words "your loss" when you've just missed out on a twenty quid toaster. |

If it’s a woman. If it’s a man it’s because they did something wrong to cause it.
