Personally tried them all, as a Dom.
Always roll back to cling wrap as a favourite. Strong,durable, flexible.
Can be sprayed like latex. Used for mummification. Also comes in amazing colours for outfit matching and photography. Direct to bin when finished no body fluids to clean away afterwards.

Ok, so it seems there's a lot of unimaginative people on here when it comes to restrains.
I get I said I've tried them all. Trust me. myself and ex-wife are both very very imaginative.
Ask me for a list it's plentiful.
Get out more and explore more if you can't get past rope chain wrap bandage cable tie silk wire nylons/stockings belts straps. |

I have the industrial cling wrap on a 1m roll it's much stronger. Also like bondage tape , ropes, belts and thick metal chains but my fave is using my own body to restrain. No really into any of the made for restraint kits, anklets etc prefer it to be improvised and unique each time |

Restraint is much than than what you use.
People enjoy different aspects of restraint - the physical feeling of a body or cold chains , rope or tape stopping them move, or a crushing presence of a person and being unable to stop what's going to happen even if they wanted to, the mental feeling of having no control, being trapped, vulnerable, cornered, over powered, captured, siezed (won't say the banned word!) but are all different scenarios to role play involving restraint. The trust involved creates chemistry. I'm not a huge fan of restraining strangers but the lack of trust & risk can also create a different chemistry.
Attention becomes focused on touch, which is heightened, especially if using a blindfold & noise cancelling headphones, and anticipation and timing

Which cling wrap is best? Have you tried all the brands? Aldi or Lidls?
And when you wrap up a person up in cling wrap do you have to wrestle with it to find the end like you do with a roll when you want to unravel? |

Rope, I like the way it looks and although there are a million other options, I just like the way rope looks.
I’m by no means an expert, I have never had a partner to try rope play with, but when you see the work of real experts in shibari, it’s breathtaking how they can think 10-15 knits ahead to create art from rope using the human body as a canvas, it’s not even sexual at this point I’m just in awe. |

To say that not using different types is unimaginative, sounds a bit kink/fetish lifestyle to me.
It is like people asking what kinks/fetish have you tried. To my mind the addage of being a supporter applies. You don't choose your team, your team chooses you.
For me discovering rope as practised and popularised in Japan in the second half of the 21st century (I will inaccurately call kinbaku) was the missing piece . In my view kinbaku is different from pure restraint. Clearly if you want pure restraint there are quicker and simpler methods than rope. Kinbaku is about connection, it can be erotic,sexual or for suffering (semenawa). Kinbaku, similar to martial arts, has different schools (ryu). Ranging from Yukimuran, or semenawa associated with Naka Akira, to Kazami Ranki style and many more.The style you choose will come down to personal interest and the interest of the person being tied.
If you step out of kinbaku to rope bondage, there is Chinese 5 flower style or good old Western bondage used for decoration, meditation or restraint.
At the end of the day it is not the lack of imagination, but having discovered something that satisfies the inner soul means for some of us, there is no need to try anything else.
