How long have you had the same type of haircut and the same barber and what do you go for?

I've had the same type for years and changed barbers when I moved as my last one only did walk-in's and I didn't want to wait for ages but the new place is wildly inconsistent so I've actually booked a haircut with a new barber for this week that comes with a consultation about my hair type and best styles for it and I'm not quite sure what to expect!

Tapered fade ages ..and ages. Joe, mainly due to it beating a retreat from its former glory.

I go to traditional barbers, walk in only. Fuck that appointment shit. But I'm also happy enough to just walk by if it looks busy in there.

Im on my 6th barber for my entire life (that I'm aware of).

Pretty much the same hair once I was old enough to go to the barber solo. Before that I was the victim of bowl cut abuse.

Now it's a simple 2 back and sides, I have an unusual double crown so the way it grows limits hair styles I can pull off.

Turkish shop around corner always do a good job. I find most the Turkish shops do a good professional cut.

I've avoided them like the fucking plague, they pop up around here and close not long after with the exception of one. I'll always seek out a long established and experienced traditional barber that clearly enjoys and takes pride in what he does.

I used to change my hairstyle frequently. But not so much these days, more variants on the same theme.

I've been getting it cut at the same place for about 10 years because my hairdresser is amazing. We chat about loads of things that go over the normal client/hairdresser line. And I always come away feeling great.

pothole city

Been at the same barber for nearly 20 years, apart from a 5 year spell where i just used hair clippers on myself and did a no 1.

Always have a french crop style haircut. No1 on back and sides and pretty short on top

.Probably be the last year though and will revert back to the hair clippers.

I think everyone went through a bowl cut phase 🤣 I don't mind an appointment because even though it's not as flexible, at least it means I'm in and out when I want to be

I've been to those shops and find even though I ask for the same thing, the results are wildly inconsistent which kind of puts me off

Haha I don't think I'd go for that! My hair is quite thick and wavy and for ages I've just gone a 1 on the back and side, short top and thinned out so the hair is straighter so I'm just looking if I can do something with my hair naturally a little longer and thicker 😅

Never had a barber, had a Mohican (all colours) for all my youth and now I’m skinhead. Used soap, wood glue and superglue to keep the Mohican up 😆

The kids mam would cut my hair and when she moved out after 15 years of not paying for a haircut I tried to do myself but didn’t go too well so begrudgingly had to start going to barbers, luckily naz had just opened and he’s a cracking bloke been going to him ever since. Haircuts been the same most my adult life shaved down to the bone on sides and short on top, not much left on top these days but hanging onto it as long as can ha

I've had the same barber for over 20 years (also the barber is me ✌️) ... I also go from buzzcut to medium length hairstyles within the year, pretty often - I like to change hairstyles...however the older I get the more attached I become to the faded crew cut

I have quite big nose and big ears... A buzz cut would look awful on me 😂

For years it was just the usual no1 back and sides and a scissor trim on top.

Then I was randomly seeing a lady from here who's a hairdresser. She told me to get a low tapered fade, and thats now what i have.

I have had the same haircut since the late 90s. Was on a long term climbing expedition and ended up getting it all shaved off in some dodgy barbers in the middle of Bolivia because my Spanish was so poor and I couldn’t order the correct cut and decided it was just easier to live with. Just cut it myself now.

I won’t win a fashion award but I don’t care.

At the grand old age of 64, not including when I was a kid and was told what to have, I’m on my 4th style. This one lasted 9 years so far, have used the same barber in that time.

I've had the same haircut for many years. I've grown my hair long twice for a few years each time. Now it's short back and sides, scissor cut on top, skin fade, beard trim and fade. It seems to work. The only things I change are the beard styles or medium fade/high fade. I've changed barbers whenever I've moved.

My current ones are Kurdish and it's a walk in. They do a very good job. There are a lot of barbers in my area. The thing that enticed me was the decor. A mix of old school retro barbershop interior, fresh traditional coffee and standard massive TV no one watches anymore with a soundtrack in a foreign language.

I moved from my barber of 15 years to a new one last year. The wait times were getting ridiculous (people queue up for it opening) and someone had recommended another one which I tried and there's minimal wait and the haircut is just as good.

I went to the Turkish barbers a short while back. He gave me a 2 fade and shaved my Mohawk off!

Have regrown my Mohawk and go to a male hairdresser now.

"What styles you thinking Joe?"

So at the minute, it's very much swept over with like a quiff going on and usually go for a pretty high fade. I'm thinking letting gorw out a bit more on top with an undercut or bringing it forward with like a messy fringe 🤔

I used to have a quiff pre long hair and before that messy and spiked. I say grow it on top!

I always go for a half hour consultation before I book an appointment with a new stylist. I've had 4 in ten years. It's great because they should be able to tell you what's possible in terms of cut and it's fun to just concentrate on you and What you want for half an hour.

Yeah, I think with my hair being thick and wavy, I always worried it would grow out rather than down and would just look wild but it is tempting 😅

no worries at all! I like the consultation idea as they clearly know what they're talking about and I can sometimes have issues with saying exactly how I want my hair to be, I just know when I see it 😅

You should get him to send over your haircut record so your new barber knows what he's working with.
