Old Person Coded.
Jump to: Newest in thread
About 15 minutes ago, I found myself genuinely excited about the prospect of spending half an hour with a pot of Earl Grey, some custard creams, and the radio (Nightwatch on BBC Sounds, if you're asking). An evening which would not be out of place in a nursing home.
What is your most 'old-person-coded' behaviour, or attitude? |

"Just wanting some sexy chat and not actually looking for physical meets"
I wouldn't be so sure this is old-person-coded. A friend of mine who works in geriatrics says nursimg homes have stratospheric levels of STDs... |

Complaining at the cost of stuff is my new hobby. |

Residents, apparently.
I mean, if it's that or bingo... |

A good day out being going to a local NT property, getting a decent parking spot, wandering around the grounds and then having their scone of the month with a pot of tea.
I've been avoiding the Barbour/headscarf/labradors combination but it's only a matter of time. |

I can just see you in a quarter-zip, green wellies, and a Hermès headscarf, Meli. A windswept, bucolic vision. |

"Whenever I buy a new cleaning product, I'm always eager to try it out to see what new difference it will make and if it doesn't, my disappointment is immeasurable 😓"
This is, predictably, adorable. What has been your latest hygienic heartbreaker? |

"A nice cup of tea. As opposed to a horrible cup of tea, I suppose. "
I find myself worrying about people who can’t make a proper cup of tea.
I don’t think that’s old people coded though, just Yorkshire people coded. |

I absolutely judge people who don't use fresh water, or don't warm the pot. |

For me it's that increasing-common event that I listen to a trailer for Moneybox on Radio for and think "That sounds interesting. I should give that a listen." Luke |

"I feel really smug if I already have stamps in my purse when I need to send a birthday card. "
This is terrifyingly, impressively organised. I should start doing this. For one thing, every time I buy a first class stamp I feel as if I'm living in Germany circa 1923. |

As of yesterday (and today) the repeat, on loop, playback of "Coming Up" from Paul McCartney's "McCartney II" album.
It's such a catchy, absurd, goofy and vibrato-infused track. And I feel so avuncular listening to it! |

Mate I'm 15 years younger and if you sub out BBC sounds for a David Attenborough documentary you're outlining my preferred sunday evening wind-down
Decaf earl grey though - or rooibos |

I bought this window vacuum to help with cleaning windows and mirrors. I may have bought a bad one because it still left streaks 😭 |

I have one of those and it is literally my favourite household gadget. I’ve learned to live with the streaks. |

You need a scrim for the streaks - make sure it's completely dry and give the streaks a quick polish out as soon as you've spotted them. But I agree, this gadget is one of the best investments I've ever made! |

At that point, I might as well use the spray and a cloth I was using before! |

This is the most erotic reply I have ever had on these forums.
I must bed you now. |

I think I'm shocked at the thought of custard creams with Earl Grey. |

Oh, National Trust and Barbour is me, being a middle aged old git. Except inside I’m younger! I do light sabre noises with carving knives or pretend to be Maximus |

Well being way over middle aged and definitely old, I enjoy a trip to the garden centre too much these days.
I also enjoy re runs of The Antiques Roadshow, especially if they find a little treasure worth millions! |

You're not an old git. Or useless. Or whatever other negative terms you're using to describing yourself.
It was a tongue in cheek confession because I not so secretly love that kind of thing. Got a trug for when I go foraging, permanently wear slippers around the home. Cardigans are catnip. Pearl necklaces? Yes please. |

And you can see them thinking of paying the mortgage off when they say “we won’t be selling it”. Lies! |

Enjoying a nice stroll round the garden centre, specifically for the gelato stall on the way out.
Refusing to even start a film after 8pm
Spending an hour watching the standoff between the bluetits and Robin on my balcony. |
