Gentleman: the signification of "x".

My dear Lysanders, Orsinos, Chaps, Chums and Menfolk of the fora...
Do you ever place an "x" after your messages to women? I very very rarely do, and when I do it's queried with suspicion before it's graciously accepted with glee.
If you don't why don't you? If you do, have you always done it.
Is this mostly a womanly thing, brought down from generations all the way from Eve? They all do it. Well, most not all. |

I do it after all my messages, statements, questions. Kind of a subconscious thing to do. Have done it a few times when its not very appropriate to, when arranging a job interview. It was lucky he saw the funny side of it x |

"I only do it if they do it first

Same. It's just a peck on the cheek anyway.

I would think so too but some women have different ideas and expectations. ...💍"
Ideas and expectations not communicated verbally are just fantasies. Unlikely to occur unless spoken about. |

Talking of inappropriateness have you noticed how the "❤️" and the "👍🏻" are juxtaposed together on Microsoft Teams chat? The amount of times I've accidentally 'love-hearted' some of my colleagues...! |

"Sorry. Just read you were asking for mens opinions x
•
I always value your opinions. ❤️"
Thank you. I havent noticed on Microsoft teams as I don't use it. If I did, I'd probably do the same.
With the 'x' at the end of a message, I never expect people to send them back just because I do it. Although I did send 2 rows of 'x's' by mistake using auto fill. My kids get the 2 rows. I really need to proofread before I hit send x |

Straight off on the first message..... No.
It seems kinda wrong.
But if we've been chatting, I always sign off with an x. Or a capital X if we're really clicking. If we've arranged a frivolous use of energy meet, then they get a triple x. |

Nope. Certainly not with strangers. Would only ever consider if it was a friend. |

Sometimes i do sometimes i dont. Depends who i am messaging. For example, most of the people i communicate with on here, i have some sort of connection/relationship with so putting a x at the end of the message is no biggie.
The taxman however, does not recieve an x of anysort during our conversations.
