Difficult to come down from a anxious event, but I find grounding myself helps.
If you can find a grassy spot away from all the noise.
Take shoes and socks off. Feel the earth under your feet close your eyes and breath and just concentrate on your own breathing hand on tummy feeling the inhale and exhale.
Or if you have the ability find somewhere to dangle feet in water and just feel free and at one with nature.
Failing that take yourself out of the stressful environment for a few mins go for a walk. |

I suffer with anxiety and I don't really have any coping techniques. TheHusband is good with me when I spiral. I just try do something to take my mind off what I'm anxious about, cleaning, crochet, doodle. It's usually an inhouse activity as my anxiety stops me going out of the house |

Anxiety is sadly a big part of my life.
My main coping mechanism is walking....get off my phone, and head out for some fresh air.
Walking in the rain especially....I find it so relaxing.
Everyone handles it differently. |

As a touch person, having something soft to hold works well. Also having a calming or pleasant scent can help quickly before having a strong flare up. I carry little soft things with lavender and cinnamon scent around so I can calm quicker.
Failing that, distraction tactics. Read something, play something. Anything that can redirect your attention away from your anxiety. I've found journaling in the moment and giving myself somewhere to note down what's causing it can help.
Hope that helps! |

I'm not sure what triggers your anxiety, OP. But mine is health related.
When I start to feel it creeping in i try to slow my breathing down and do an overall check in my head. Telling myself that I've felt all of these feelings before and been fine which usually helps. |

I have a senses check in.
Taste = chocolate is good for this. Stop and really taste it. Feel it in your mouth. The sensations.
Touch = thumb stones are good. Something smooth that you can rub. Again, concentrate on the sensation.
Hearing = see if you can count 5 things you can hear. Birds, cars, trains etc.
Sight = see if you can count something. Windows in buildings. Watch the clouds and make up shapes.
Smell = is there a certain smell that will comfort you. Aftershave, perfume, cow shit
I also use Headspace.
I suffer from cPTSD so grounding is extremely important and essential.
I hope this helps OP. |

Have just come off medication for mine, I was anxious about everything and anything to be honest. It was exacerbated by the perimenopause and raising a child with ASD, where I turned hyper vigilant as he was just not safe unless watched constantly (he has a serious nut allergy, was prone to falls when young, he has no sense of danger, no spatial awareness etc etc).
My child is older now, which has helped, and I am officially one year clear regarding the Menopause and was feeling more me. I decided to try coming off medication and so far it’s ok.
The tablets were life changing for me. They made me realise I should have gone to my GP much sooner than I did, but I just thought how I felt was normal.
I still have to be careful what content I watch on TV and social media, as well as who I engage with generally. I’ve realised I’m not great with the overly negative or alarmist stuff.
I don’t think I am “cured” but I am much more able to regulate myself. |

Never sure if it's anxiety or depression or both
I try and get out of the house every day, sit in the pub doing crosswords or go to the cinema. Used to like reading but struggling to get into it. Try to go for walks but often find myself sussing out places I could end it, though am less likely to do something stupid in public
Though when out I'm anxious that people think I'm faking things, wonder why friends stay friends, wonder if people are talking about me exp as I have a nasal issue that can have me constantly sniffing |

Same here, I also use music and noise cancelling earbuds...I do a lot of internal chat addressing my Ego states, works great for me but everyone is different in our coping strategies that work for us...

Thanks so much for posting OP.
Ive been having a heady mix of anxiety and depression over the last few weeks, and turning up for work and filling my weekends too.. recently spoke with work about reducing my workload, taking more beeaks and reducing my caseload too. Im going down to 4 days a week to see if that has an impact too. Today has been a better day. |

It really isn't easy and doesn't work all the time. There are lots of videos on YouTube that talk about coping strategies, you should check them out. It's simply trying to distract your mind from those thoughts. Easier said than done i know.
I genuinely hope you work through it. Anxiety is the devil. |

Ive found listening to podcasts on headphones at work really helps me. In my work its a lonely old place and dont really see or get to talk to anyone so stuck in head all day. Hearing nothing else but whatever im listening to stops my brain for going off on one. Music I tend to end up going to darker music and then making myself worse but we are all different. Keep swing everyone we will get there but more importantly keep talking |

I do have medication but that makes me feel worse for a day or two.
I tell myself it will pass-and it does.
I play games on my phone-flitting from one to another.
I look at old family photos and videos.
I eat.

I have non-situational anxiety and depression so I have to ride it out,or medicate, rather than take my mind off my worries.
I tried the going for walks and found myself looking into peoples' houses, while crying my eyes out and sweating with burning sensations all over, wondering why me.
Exercise and sport works well for some. |

Exercise i find really helps, suppose it all about keeping the mind active. We all have dark and bad days but the good days will come. Dont bottle things up talking is good doctor or friends. Keep going everyone. Happy Wednesday |

So I am in the middle of a panic attack / breakdown - work related stress been signed off work for 2 Months.
Was working on a project for last 6 months that was supposed to go live this week (was signed off 2 weeks ago).
Was at breaking point, and broke down in office
Back on antidepressants
Project was badly managed, and I was taking the fallout on me
Anyway I have started going to park / gym to help get head in right place |

Keep at it my freind, you will get there. Keep to the exercise and get plenty of vitamin D and stay hydrated. Ive also been taking CBD gummy for last couple weeks and they have certainly helped calm my brain. Meditation and breathing techniques |
