Yep we have. It's what comes next that's important.

Infinitely preferable to the 'well thought out' messages that make it clear they've been nowhere near our profile text which is hardly War and Peace

It's a bit brief as a first message. I've had a couple of these in the past and did respond out of politeness more than anything.

I've written a few detailed and specific messages to others and haven't had any response. I guess 'Hi 👋' saves wasting your time.

Some people claim they want others to make an effort but when they message they don't do the same. Hi is fine. Let's talk about it.

Id respond but would approach with caution if it were written in all lower case.

The first letter is always a capital, so I'd want to know why they made it small

The information on their profile means more than what is said in their initial message.

A "hi" is fine as long as I have something to start a conversation with.

If the profile pic gets my attention I might checkout the rest of the profile and see if there's any interest sparked.

But hi on it's own and no profile won't be enough to warrant a reply

Somewhere dark and gloomy

Don't be crude, you wouldn't say that in a bar! What would you say, oh yeah, hi.

Read my profile! But I still won't respond unless I like the look of you.

Put effort in! Even though you don't know me and the chances are I won't reply anyway.

A hi works if you find them attractive and they have a decent profile.

From one hand, another couple of words wouldn't hurt. Even basic ones like "how are you?" or "nice day for fishing, isn't it?", from the other openers are hard.

But then again, no woman have ever started a conversation with me in any way so I'm not bothered. I try to include in the first message something that indicates I have read the profile

"The information on their profile means more than what is said in their initial message.

This is it. A 'Hi' from a blank profile is going to get deleted, but a 'Hi' from someone I like the look of is no bother. If it doesn't flow more after that, then I draw a line.

People are going to respond to say "hi" if they find the person who messaged them to be attractive.

That person could have a well written profile and shows everything that they are looking for. But that being said if they aren't attractive to your face, well that's it.

They aren't going to go any further and even if they do respond back it's not like it's going to amount to anything sexual.

That doesn't mean to say a friendship couldn't start. Not everyone is looking to form sexual connections on here. As I understand there's many on here who have been friend's for a long time.

That could have started with a simple "hi".

I'm the same with this. However, if the conversation is too hard work and it's not clear why they contacted me it ends pretty quickly.

Get so many Hi messages from silhouettes. Always respond with a Hello, well at least it is a proper word lol. That gets read, and not responded to.
