In a galaxy far far away |
Never went abroad with one, but we had a few days trips.
The only one I really remember was a Roman Fort near Corbridge in Northumberland.
Pretty boring, but I bought a good rubber ruler from the gift shop afterwards |

"All of the above sounds ace!
We went to the battle of bannockburn site. Just a big field where we had to imagine what went on😃"
Haha! It’s like when I took the family to Azincourt, talked it up, enthused about tactics and long bows and it was a big empty field. I backed off muttering ‘use your imagination’. Had to buy bows and arrows to make it up for the kids. |

The did have a gift shop so that kinda made up for the bore fest I had to endure. |

Just one, which was to Exmoor. Nothing but barren land and sheep. What a famning indictment as metaphor of the modern disassociation of declining community ties I thought*, aged about 9.
*or similar thoughts. |

We went to Majorca on a 5 day Spanish cultural trip. I was 15, I got so pissed one night that I had to be carried to my room and I got caught shoplifting on the last day.
I remember another trip to the Cotswolds where the toilets were smashed up. Feral were we, thank god I knew how to bring my own kids up. |

Also went to Roman fort
Yeah, going overseas for a school trip was way outside the realms of possibility. (I grew up about four hours drive from Canberra)"
That's the capital of Aussie land right? |

Alton Towers.
Ypres to see all the WW1 stuff.
London on an art trip to the Tate Modern, Saatchi gallery, National Portait Gallery and some others.
When I did A-Level Art we went on a trip to New York to visit lots of galleries there and did some touristy stuff too that was pretty awesome. It was February and Central Park was covered in snow. It was quite magical.
There were probably others that I can't remember now. |

When I was new to the UK, I heard a quiz show where they asked how many states there were in Australia.
They said twenty, and I threw things at the radio.

We just went to local farms, an old castle, a forest to look for leafs, and getting my wellies stuck in the mud in some bogland or beach. Barely remember any of it. Day trips only happened in primary school. No trips at all seemed to happen in secondary. I remember one effort was made to visit France, but it was cancelled. It was a poor school and closed soon after I finished.

My high school didn't do school trips. My wife's school took them on a battlefield tour of Natal, which was interesting. They visited Isandhlwana, Rorke's Drift, Blood River, and Ladysmith, I think. |

Stackpole for a week. An Outdoor Adventure Centre.
We did Orienteering (loved it!) and canoeing amongst other things.
The other School Trip I remember being available was Llangranog for a week but I didn’t do that one. |

I was banned from school trips for spilling Vimto on the coach seats
Most of ours were local attractions like Shibden Hall, Chatsworth House, Marton Mere Wildlife Reserve etc
Tho I did do a week long trip to Majorca with school in my final year
It was great
I remember the gossip mill when one of the female teachers brought her female 'friend' along with her too |

Lowther Wildlife Park"
Forgot about Beamish, we went there too. Have been to Newby Hall as an adult and it houses (or did a few years ago at least) Giles Brandreth's teddy bear collection. |

There is a restaurant just outside the museum that used to have its own microbrewery (I think the brewery bit closed - not been for years) but I don't think they sold it anywhere but the restaurant. |
