If someone says they're going to be busy for a few days, how many days would you think they might be busy for?
The reason for asking is yesterday I said to someone I was going to be busy for a few days, this morning I got a message asking if I want to meet up today? No I am busy for a few days.
So help me to understand what is a few days? |

I’m on your side with this one 😂
If someone says they’re busy for ‘a few days’, my understanding is that means leave them alone until they pop back up, not immediately try and arrange plans the next morning 😅
A few days isn’t exactly a cryptic code to crack Sherlock Holmes style 🤣 |

To me it's as long as I want at the time.
It means I'll come back to you.
At some point. Eventually.
And you'll be ignored until that point in time arrives, whenever that is. 🤷♂️😇 |

If I’m not sure if I am interested we say we busy for a few days and expect to hear from us when we free, if it’s someone we have met before or are really interested in we will manage their expectations a little better, for example I’m not free until at least Saturday, or not free till the weekend. Either way OP a few should at least mean more than one so they shouldn’t have expected you to be free the next day! |

It’s definitely three, if it was two, you would say I’m busy for the next couple of days, if it was Four or five you would say I’m busy for most of / all of this week. They sound a bit too keen, probably best to block them. |

Well, a few days is 3 or 4 but obviously didn't state you were busy on the nights too.
More clarity for the gentleman next time. |

If you want to get your point across you need to be diversity deliberately specific. Avoids ambiguity.
A few suggests more than 1 to me though, but there are some that don't understand English very well. |

To be honest I state on my profile I'm not meeting and still get several messages asking if I'm free.
I'm polite and say I'm not meeting. Some are good and say that's ok..they don't message again.
Others say ok...then three hours later they ask am I free now?
Because I said I wasn't meeting at the moment they literally took it as that moment.

Not sure where "diversity" came from there |
