I found a fun fact that there are often depending on which part of the world 10men to every 1women on average on dating apps.
Not only that for every 50 profiles men will swipe right 41 times whereas women will swipe right 12 times.
Why the huge discrepancy. Are women more choosy because they can afford to be or they guarded or do the men feel like they have to swipe right on everyone to maximise their chances? |

Supply and demand. Changes in society's norms and values. Hook up culture. Lack of responsibilities and maturity. So many other reasons, these are just some. We've become a lonelier society and people are seeking intimacy by any means.
The harsh reality of dating apps is, an average man is almost invisible. Some men lower their standards and engage with women they wouldn't normally be with. Some women have a sense of entitlement and delusion. They think they deserve an exceptional man because of social media, books and their friends (other sources are available). It's a different mindset, different experiences. We live on the same planet and in different worlds.

Look to South Korea as a snapshot into the future. Generally women are more selective, and men are more lonely. The result is a smaller and smaller percentage of men who match, which creates even more thirst from the majority.

Women probably have more safety concerns so men will be more inclined to use an app or site to meet people. Plus men are less likely to be approached off line.
Men are less likely to receive a match because of the environment so they are more likely to swipe right and then decide after if they’re a match where as we will check your profile out first before we decide |

I saw one swingers club in Berlin that charged single men over 100 euros to enter. KitKat and on the other hand changed couples and singles exactly the same but Berlin rules apply. You have to meet the dress code plus you have to match the vibe check or you don't get in. |

I'd say on average many women find sex and relationships in real life and therefore don't rely on apps like men do...
Or if a woman chooses to use an app, she will likely find what she's looking for much faster than a man will, therefore doesn't spend as much time as the man would using the app.
Either way, dating apps are a great way to feel bad.

Apps aren't designed to match people anyway, they use the same business model as all other big corporations do. Pharma and doctors are there to keep you sick, whilst giving the illusion of treatment. Lawyers are there to keep the poor in poverty and separate from the rich who get away with what ever they want.
Tinder will lie and tell you you have a match, then throw in hundreds of mismatches before getting to that person which you've all but forgotten about unless you pay and it will throw just as many fake profiles they set up on back servers to give the illusion of desire.
It will give you just enough to keep you addicted, not enough to fulfil anything.
Wasn't like that back when tinder and others launched, the only difference between apps is how much they take and ratio of fakes to cost. |

People are liberated from the expectation to marry and have children.
Or at least they seem to be content to not settle with a person unless the match is a good one.
I know there have been studies on how societal changes and empowerment of women has led to the luxury of choice, that it's not shameful to be unwed or choose to stay child-free whether coupled or not, or to have a child as a single person. Men tend to find a woman to settle with after they have had a good run of tearing up the place and can wait till mid 30s. For women it’s harder as time is not in your side like it is for men for family creation etc

Lots of women (including me) now prioritise their own peace and happiness over being in a unfulfilling relationship. We have more independence and don't need to rely on a partner financially etc. We don't need to "settle" because there's no other option for us as women. So if it makes us picky, then maybe we are.
I think women in general are a lot more content to be single and get fulfilment from friendships and other things in life than men are. I'd much rather be single than in a relationship that I don't feel fulfilled in just so I'm not single.
I also absolutely do not want to end up in a relationship with a man who just wants a woman to do everything for him. I have no desire to replace someone's mother or be an unpaid skivy. I want someone emotionally switched on who can do his own share of domestic labour. So I guess my standards are high in some regards. Pretty sad really that the bar is so low.

Not all apps. The other site I have used alongside Fab for several years, actually lists the number of men and women online when you sign in. It can be loaded one way or the other, depending on the time of day, but generally it is a 1:1 ratio, and get this; I meet more ladies through there, than I do through Fab! 😎

On dating sites, women are (un-intentionally) the talent (apologies, no offence). Men are the customers. The business model arbitrages the subscription (robbery) price as the difference between the number of men vs women subscribers (opportunity margin). Which in turn incentivizes (quite smart) bots as women, on less scruplous dating sites (inflating the gender availability gap)! Thats a whole other thread, relating to changing ideas around the social acceptability of not having kids, a want to live a life before settling down, more people not wanting to have children, Affordability of houses and life, in some cultures like America it's access to services. Worsening sperm quality, people looking to have kids too biologicaly late and much much more. Some of the issues date back to the 1920s when kids started to be seen less as cheap labour and also better health care in the 1940s so family's did not need to produces loads of kids to make sure done survived. |
