"He queued with plebs to pay respects to the queen.
Give him a star
Good point, credit where credits due.
I till think a Hollywood Star is pushing the boat."
Me too. Not sure any of them are worthy unless they have been saving the world or saving people. |

"Forgot to mention he cost us the world cup.
He also got us to a world cup with 'that free kick' against Greece "
True, but then he lost it with his petulant behaviour, I think he had a flashback when he fought in the Falklands. |

Was that the Argentina game, when he kicked out at the player when lying on the ground? |

He’s the most well managed/media trained person I have ever known. Everything he does is for the canera, to look good, to seem like he is doing what’s best for anything but him. It’s just not real.
When he was in the queue after the queen died… you either viewed that as him being a hero or you saw what it really was, the biggest play up to the cameras ever.
Although after 25-30 years I do have to admire his commitment to it though. Maybe that alone deserves the star

The kick out at Simone was 1998, the free kick against Greece was as captain in 2003. So the free kick came after the sending off.
As for your point do any of them deserve a star? A honour for services to sport/entertainment? Let’s be honest I’ve worked for my employer for the last 25 years, I’ve rarely been sick, I worked through COVID as an unrecognised key industry. What these top stars earn is that not reward enough. The average earnings of an EFL league two player is £2000 per week that’s more than the average for most in a month. On top of that they get endorsements etc. Does Beckham pay for most of his clothes? Probable not he’ll get them for free as a walking advert.
Most top sportsmen and women earn far in access of the common man. Is that not reward enough? |
