Morning folks, the last couple of weeks have seen my depression better slightly, the anxiety and my body being in fight or flight mode at my usual work place still persists, and that's frustrating and am trying to understand it. I've got a chat with NHS MH Employment Support Team next week and then in 3 weeks am starting an online wellbeing course for another 6 weeks.
I get days where I feel crap but the emotional swings that were blighting me seem to have passed. (for now)
A few weeks ago I temporarily dropped my hours to give me a day off in the week and I've decided to make this a permanent change.

"Good for you OP. You're taking all the right actions and making use of all resources available to you.
Question. Have you ever tried Andy's man club? I've heard nothing but good things about it. "
Thank you
I haven't tried it, but I do know the man who set it up and I spoke to him (not about Andy's Man Club). He was a good rugby player who retired and set it up after suicide in his family. There are a couple of local places that host an AMC. I may look these up.

"Its a rough week.
The heat really makes me suffer with my anxiety. Its really strange, like i have the shakes.
It will pass though. "
I was triggered a little by the heat today on my outreach but I have had an enjoyable evening. |

Hey OP, great to hear some things are improving. It also sounds like you’re working on other stuff to head in the right direction. Really great that you feel comfortable to be able share. That’s not easy. Always here to listen if ever needed |

As part of my “be kinder to myself” year, I have started going to a local Andy’s Man Club, and also anotjer local monthly men’s support group. Both very different in their approach, the monthly one, I can just switch my brain off for a couple of hours and listen ……. There’s no obligation to say a word and it is a couple of hours each month where I can relax on company of other human beings, and speak if I want to.
AMC is different and although there is no obligation to talk, I find that the group make up, and the way the session is structured actually encourage me to open up about the things I’ve buried in my head, explore my emotions and feelings. I am hoping it will help me start making some connections with other people, and help me take back control of my head space.
Is great to hear that you are making some small steps there OP and hope you find yourself in a better place soon x |
