Do you talk to and get on with your work colleagues?

In a galaxy far far away |
There's been a recent report done that says around one in five workers report spending an entire workday without speaking to a colleague face-to-face, while a third often go a whole day without any verbal or direct communication.
Are there people like this where you work?
When I was office based (before I started working from home) as you can imagine I was a chatter box.
But there was the odd noob I avoided. |

I always talk to a good few work colleagues daily, it’s the nature of my job. I work a hybrid pattern so sometimes we talk face to face others via teams.
There are some work colleagues I will chat to about non work stuff and some see out of work socially too.
For balance there are also some work colleagues who I have the bare minimum level of contact with. Just enough to remain professional and get the work done. |

"I work with very few other people and they’re mostly in and out so I’m left to my own devices most of the time…..I’m happy that way xx 😄
Playing solitaire on the computer 🤭"

I work shifts so I'm not always on with the same lot.(rotation etc)
But in general,I'd say I get on well with everyone.. certainly those I see regularly. Some of us text most days.. we meet up for drinks..even management join in.. might need to sort that one |

I talk to more or less everyone. I'm very close with a few colleagues (meals out, socialising, concerts, holidays) but then there are some I wouldn't recognise in the street since covid times. |

Yes I also socialised with some after work. We had a few nights out on the town with them and there was a few of us who went to the local pub on our extended Friday lunch break for grub and a pint. |

I think it differs from industry to industry in the 2 roles I have had as an employee the first was a place that made cast stone and everyone talked and got along, went out together when we broke up at summer and at Christmas and if one had a special
occasion like an engagement often the whole shed was invited we had some amazingly great nights in the local club some of best nights ever
The other place was the engineering dept of a factory and it was like everyone hated each other, couldn’t wait for the opportunity to stick the knife in or get one over on each other especially between shifts and between the fitters and the electricians, they never went out together ect and being honest it made the place fucking miserable, luckily a few of us more personable ones who liked a carry on would always hang out with the lads from the pipefitters bay and try and work together on as many jobs as we could and organised nights out together it made it far more bareable

I work solo but based in a store, I will go out and have a chat if I'm free as I worked out there with them all before this role. But most days the only interaction I have is with the people booked in to see me. |

I’m a proper chatterbox. In our department I work with all men so like to go around giving them grief and winding them up.
I’m certain they love it and the fact that they lock the office door is not a hint 🤣🤣
I also say hello to all the college staff and students alike. My Hi viz has my name in it so everyone knows me!!
Haha, did I say I was shy? 😇 |

Yes I do, we are quite a close knit team. Mainly supportive of each other
I am 3rd in charge at my work so I'm in the middle of management and staff. I'm usually spokesperson for both sides as I'm fair and can see both sides of the operations. I think I hold the balance well |

We worked in kitchens. You have to communicate with each other or it all breaks down.
Still go out to drink with them to this day, and we havent worked together for 7 years. Some of my closest friends |

My 'boss' and I are now really good mates, we chat/text do stuff outside of work, out for cocktails next weekend for my birthday. She's recently had a really awful loss too so we've spent a lot of the last few weeks having a cry and a hug when needed. Its been pretty rough.
We have exactly the same humour, foul mouths and tell each other everything. Apart from this place. She thinks I meet blokes on tinder 🤣😴 |

"I'd rather get off with some of my work colleagues if you know what I mean
Yes, but do you talk to them? 🤣"
I actually have some genuinely lovely, supportive colleagues who are a pleasure to talk to.
And the odd one who gives me a tingle in my trousers |

It's good when you have a nice working environment and get on with your colleagues, but I've worked in some right toxic places in the past with some right miserable fukkas |

I have to talk to a lot of colleagues because my job requires me to, but I also talk to quite a few of them about non work stuff because I quite like them and some days it's the only adult conversation I get. |

Just A Stranger In A Strange Land. |
Other than work, it’s mostly banter and lighthearted shit, a few of us are WHU, so that a discussion as well. Some of us meet up a couple of times a year for golf, so overall it’s good.
Having said that, none of us are in contact outside of those situations so there is a line drawn between work friendships where you’re thrown together and genuine friendships. |
