Perhaps you could get a friend to call them and ask for a speculative quotation for a similar job? That might give you a rough idea of the 'real' price.

Labour ranges from 75 to 150 per door.

A big factor is the type of door and how much trimming is required.

It shouldn't take 2 days.

Are they just hanging new doors into existing frames ?

Short answer is the people doing the work would like to cover their day work money. So a carpenter/chippy in london (dont know where you are) will charge between £200 - £270 a day.

4 doors shouldnt take 2 guys 2 days if its shooting the door in, hinges and handles. If they have mortice locks, drop seals, smoke/fire strips etc then yeah, more work more time.

2 good chippies should fit 4 doors easy in a day, I'd be out of a job if I couldnt do 3 in a day on my own !

Does depend on what type of door. Fire doors are always more expensive to hang.

Best to always get the whole price before a job so you know where you stand.

Just ask them how much will the complete job cost?

As above, 2 people should do this all in one day. £400 labour, plus any hardware, hinges and handles etc. Always agree a price before work starts to avoid trouble, pretty basic.

Thanks for that everyone. Yes normally of course I would get a quote beforehand. But they sort of avoided it when we asked so I suspect as they might say just pay us for all the material etc or something silly. They gave us the receipts. So really Im wondering about the labour cost per door. They are fitting this job around their daily job as they know us.
