Drive in Saturday

1973 (what a year ❤️⚪️❤️⚪️)

But John Miles' epic (RIP bless him fellow North Easterner) only 3 years after that.

Still have both intact.

Thanks for the reminder OP👍

"What was that first *record that you bought

My first record was Hits 5, in about 1985... it had a massive red dice on the cover.

The first single I bought was: Profoundly in Love with Pandora, by Ian Drury. It was from the Adrian Mole series.

Hits 5 was the first record I owned, but it was a Christmas present so I didn't buy it. Some absolute classics on there

Dirk Wears White Sox - Adam and the Ants, followed by Kings of the Wild Frontier - Adam and the Ants, followed by New Boots and Panties - Ian Dury. Lost track after that... most likely Replicas - Gary Numan

If Puppy Love wooed a lass, I'm just gonna say it. You'd have been better off without her

My first? Blockbuster, The Sweet

Solihull

First I actually bought because I needed it for reference in a school choir performance: Vivaldi's Gloria.

I didn't even want to be in the fucking choir but the selection process was sing back a note played on the piano and if you got it about right you were shanghai'd and no argument.

First I bought because I actually liked it was Kraftwerk, XLR8. A compilation from their first three albums (including Autobahn of course). I'd just seen a Tomorrow's World report where Michael Rodd was a describing slack-jawed how this group from Germany was redefining music by playing (gasp!) entirely electronic instruments.

I should add that I was selected for the sopranos but then my voice started breaking so I got promoted to altos. There was literally one other alto and he was good and I was crap, so I just kinda moved my mouth about and let him do the heavy lifting

Got out of the fucking choir as soon as I could after that performance. I am a shockingly bad singer.
