Films With Extremely Shitty Endings
Jump to: Newest in thread
Good folks 👋🏻😃
We’ve doubtless all experienced it; You’ve thoroughly enjoyed sitting through a great film - until that is, the ending comes along….and it’s complete and utter shite!
In fact such an abysmal ending has now tarnished the whole bloody experience and you’re subsequently left mightily pissed off!
Well….please list all your examples here my fine peeps and give a quick explanation as to why the ending was so bad for you 😁 |

I’m going to say, The Game starring Michael Douglas.
A superb film that expertly draws one in all the way through.
….Until the final reveal that is, which even if one applies the smallest modicum of logic to it is bloody stupid beyond belief.
A real shame.
Another one which starts off great before descending into utter ridiculousness: Now You See Me.
Oh gawd! 🤦🏼♂️

"The Mist
The Open House
The Shining
I thought The Mist was a great ending.
Obviously only the first time really hits hard."
They could have done so much more with it. They went for irony and cheap shock value/timing; it was very anti climatic. |

I remember thinking it was an average watch, but at least the ending took me by surprise.
The only reason I remember it was because of the ending, so maybe overestimate it because of that. |

True. I remember the ending because I just thought "Dickhead." 😂 2 minutes wait.. surely he could hear them all approaching in the silent mist. 🤷🏼♀️ |

Probably - I didn't really overthink it. Plus I like a dark ending every now and then 😂 |

Oh me too! I probably would have liked it if it was traumatic and gory 😂 |

If it wasn't for the high quality cast, I would have said it was a banned 80s snuff movie |

"The Thursday Murder Club
Read the book. Was really excited to see the film. Great cast. Great look.
But the ending 😡😡😡"
The whole film was disappointing, this is what happens when you let an American adapt a British book. |

The Mist - appreciate what it was trying to achieve but the end frustrates me every time.
No Country For Old Men - the ending just seems like an afterthought and very abrupt compared to the rest of the film.
Law Abiding Citizen - almost felt like they could have put some kind of a twist here to compliment the rest of the film. |

"That last zombie film, 28 years later?. Wow, that was off the scale odd
Did you watch the sequel to it?
Don't know if we dare?"
I also felt that the ending was odd. But it sets up the sequel which is based on those weird characters and I thought the sequel was very good. |

Fair play, thanks for the info. See if we cant improve our view of Mr Boyle as he left us seriously impaired. |

As a rule, for me at least, films in which the protagonist/s perish at the end always leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
With the above in mind, one of the most miserable sodding endings I’ve ever witnessed in a film has to be the Spaghetti Western, The Great Silence.
In short, the bad guys (led by a particularly hissable Klaus Kinski) kill the hero followed by his girlfriend and if this wasn’t bad enough, then kill all the hostages they were holding(!!) 😟

"Showing my age, watched it at the cinema
Nightmare on Elm Street.
One of the best horror movies ever until the last one minute. "
The rather dodgy looking special fx of the mum being pulled through the small door window?
That was admittedly a shame considering the generally great practical fx work the preceded it.

"Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It just ends very abruptly when the film crew are arrested. Watched it twice at the cinema and half of the audience were confused."
I taje it they were that half had never seen any Python before? |
