Is "curvy" so subjective, that it's meaningless
Jump to: Newest in thread
Curvy is interpreted by those who use the description of themselves in so many different ways, it tells me nothing. Some use it to describe a curvaceous shape, some use it to fill a very wide gap between average and large. There must be a better way. |

Average is also a bit subjective.
In fact all self assessment of body shape, appearance, attractiveness is subjective.
I’d probably be considered slim against some but large against others. So probably average, but feel large (Mr).
Thankfully this site allows pictures so others can apply their own assessment. |

Even clothing sizes depend on the shop for women, you can be a 12 in one and a 16 in another.
I would say curvy removes the “slim” people, otherwise you’ve got to check out the pics then add about a stone for angles and lighting.

Definitely personal choice , iv met women of here who say there athletic but I saw them as more carrying a few pounds ,chubby women who definitely weren't and were more athletic lol , people see themselfs differently , I had a meet with a lovely lady once who said her shape was fabulous, and she was nothing like apart from personality, but she said her ex constantly called her obese, in fact he 5.5 and weighed under 10st !!
Saying that I had a medical once and he told me I over weight when only 2 days before I tested and had 4 percent body fat !! And that was of qualified dietitian !!
I say be happy whatever your shape , all sizes have there pluses |

Every descriptor is subjective but curvy seems to come under more fire because larger women use it. Look at the nonsense that's going on with femininity. Men who say they're straight etc.
The better way to do it is to remember people pose and use angles, video call or meet for a social and not rely on a *slightly* outdated drop box of options to give you an accurate descriptor of someone's physique. |

"Yes.
Fab could do with an update of its labels "
Add Waist size for men and dress size for women? But then there is cup size, body shape, cock length, a bit never ending?
Although those with longer cocks don't seem shy about it anyway |

As long as the person shows some up to date pics of themselves, so you can see their shape,i don't think it matters so much. I've seen fabulous used in deferent ways too.
Also some blokes put athletic when they're not, so it really is subjective.
I'm large and I state it, plus my pics show it too.
It's different if there's no pics, but then why would you mail them then?. |

Sometimes there are very limited parts of the body shown in photos. I usually put that down to either privacy or self confidence. |

What does it matter, people can describe themselves how they like.
Very slim people have curves larger people have curves...
The amount of comments I get in messages from usually guys saying I'm not ample I'm curvy...in their opinion in mine I'm ample.
If yoi like someone you'll keep them for a reason and will view them how you want to view them |

I know what you mean. I see mens profiles with an eye or hand /foot pics.
I wouldn't message those profiles, I always think they're doing it because they are too recognisable by a partner possibly.
That's just my experience, that lots of those types of profiles are in relationships. So show random body parts or are shadows.

When I read "curvy" I just interpret it as an all-encompassing term for someone who is inferring that they are not slim, athletic or skinny (or similar). I don't needlessly dwell on it. It's informative enough for me.
Similarly if I'm reading red, crimson, scarlet, wine, magenta, terracotta... it's sufficient enough to tell me it's not blue, indigo, navy, azure...
I'm more interested in the absolutes and not the overlaps. As Nora says I also look at the photos to support the description. |

Who cares - curves are awesome whichever end of the scale |

I think people can look at photos or meet someone in person and make their own minds up as to whether they fit Society’s standards on what is curvy, fat, morbidly obese or slim, average etc.
The body descriptors on here are a bit limited.

I can never please anyone so I just please myself
I had ample
I had curvy
I had large
I had fabulous
The numbers of messages I got about the category I picked was ridiculous. So for a while I had my dress size on my bio and you guessed it, more complaints.
So I pick curvy because I am curvy. It pleases me to be curvy.

It’s not just curvy that’s used subjectively… almost all of the body types are. As someone who only goes for big/muscly guys, I wish ‘muscular’ was a category but I suppose it’s irrelevant really as it’s not something that can be used as a search filter. I just look at their pictures and decide for myself if Ifind them attractive or not. |

The human body just has curves any way.
The only people who aren’t ‘curvy’ are ones who are very slim, but their body may still have some curvature around the hips/pelvis/bum then the chest.
It’s basically a word to make people who maybe ‘curvier’ than average feel sexy and I donthink there is anything wrong with that.
The same way on here, a very large person on here isn’t categorised as obese, it is ‘fabulous’ but most people know what that means.
It is difficult to get your exact body type on a small lost of choices. In the years I have been on here, I started off skinny, put on weight, then had a fat stomach but on a slim frame (what body type is that?) then I lost some of that and went to the gym now I think I’m classed as ‘average build’ |

This. I put large, I was wrong. Put ample, wrong. Curvy, wrong. Back to ample. |

I've never given it that much thought - as others have said, the pictures will help.
I do though find it odd when a man describes himself as curvy - not something I'd associate with a male body, but up to them to choose how to describe themselves obviously! |

"I put curvy because when I had average I’d get messages trying to flatter me by saying I was in no way average. So I went with curvy, I have curves 🤷♀️"
Average is indeed not a flattering description of anyone |

If men can use the terms well hung, VWE etc to describe anything over 4 inches, I wouldnt start talking about what women class as curvy.
I've seen tiny women, size 8, that have plenty of curves, and very hourglass shape. Id say thats more on the nose than terms guys use |

I'm way beyond curvy. I'm fat. I've said in my profile that ik fat. The amounts of people who message me to tell me I'm not fat is bizarre. "You're just curvy" is fine, I guess, but denying somebody self describing is wild. |

If there are decent pics to reference then its easy to tell their true size, sadly some ladies take quite subjective pics only showing their boobs or bum. It can be hard to assess a person's true build from close up pics of boobs and bums. So full body pic should be compulsory at least I believe. Don't need to show a face if they don't want to but I believe its hard to gauge a true attraction without seeing the bigger picture. That's just my opinion of course, I'm sure others will disagree. We have met ladies of different shapes and sizes and attraction isnt always led by size but it does play a part x

Agree with this
I describe myself as 'fabulous' on my profile because
I am chonky but not unhealthy, low cholesterol and low body fat but high BMI. I queried my BMI with my Cardiologist and he said it's bullshit as it doesn't give an overall picture, it doesn't factor in exercise or differentiate between muscle and fat. He said checking cholesterol levels are far more beneficial

We’ve seen people attending clubs on so called ‘Curvy’ nights who in a million years in our eyes would never be described as ‘Curvy’. We’re not talking ‘slim with curves’ here, we’re talking SLIM.
So yeah, it’s subjective.
Or maybe these people don’t pay attention to what night it is?
Or maybe people who KNOW they most definitely aren’t ‘curvy’ attend these nights so they feel better about themselves…?
Who knows. Humans can be strange. That’s something that isn’t subjective. |

Yes it must be that, especially when they turn up with their slim partners. |
