Rough week - possibly triggering

10 days ago a friend of mine went missing. He very deliberately left and ensured no one would find him.
As you can imagine, everyone close to him is distraught and barely getting through. I didn't know him well, invited him to all our parties and went to his but didn't socialise outside of that really so feeling somewhat in limbo, like it's not really real.
Has anyone been through this and there been a positive outcome? I can't see any hope for him coming home now and after 10 days I'm losing hope that any answers will be found either way. |

"Don't overthink it. It can lead to spiralling. Hopefully they will be found soon, safe and sound. It's a difficult thing to experience."
I have definitely done the spiralling, and the overthinking. Gone through our last conversation over and over trying to pick out where I could have helped. In truth, nothing I could have said would have impacted anything he did so it's a pointless exercise.
It's just all so surreal |

Let’s hope the professionals can track him down
A friend of mine did similar when having a breakdown at work … he got as far as France but was tracked down by police … was in bad way mentally but brought home and got help … he got well …… happy endings do happen

I really hope that he gets the help and support he's looking for.
I can't imagine what the family and friends are going through.
But I know what it's like to greive some one who is still alive and it's hard |

A friend of mine did similar when having a breakdown at work … he got as far as France but was tracked down by police … was in bad way mentally but brought home and got help … he got well …… happy endings do happen

Due to use of passport and credit card it wasn’t a hard follow and once the right people talked to each other but still he was away over 3 days with some family members traumatised but police did their thing and sent trained help to his wife and mum …I Hope they can use some thing similar to find your friend and give support to family ….. not knowing is so appalling to describe .. really mean it …. Good luck heartbreaking to read your post |

I hope that he is found well, with regards to overthinking what you could of said,done different, please believe me, when I say, there's absolutely nothing different that you could of done, me webby has survived several attempts and nothing outside of being sectioned, would of changed what I did, my thoughts and prayers are with you all, we never know the demons, that haunt people's minds |

Yes I’ve experienced this a few times with different people. Most often the person has re-appeared and was having a depressive episode where they wanted to disappear from peoples lives, but not anything more serious than that. I’m hoping for the best for your friend |

One of my good friends came out the navy and disappeared after about a year , his wife left him ,he was in massive debt and to be honest we thought he had the ( unthinkable) about 2 mths later he sent me text asking if I would pick him up from humberside airport , he had just runaway basically , he had made friends with someone in Norway and had been working cash in hand in there farm ! He was like a new man and now works as a bar man in the local navy club , so good things can happen fingers crossed for your dilemma 🫡 |

Unfortunately, we have had the worst news which currently feels a relief because at least there is an answer but as it starts to sink in things are going to get a lot worse.
