After the recent bad publicity and even more bad publicity on the BBC website today I'm wondering if the pressure will continue increasing until the site can't cope.

‘Most encounters were arranged via the website FabSwingers, say the women, which claims to have more than half a million UK active monthly accounts.’’

500,000?

18-70 age range 46M people. Over 1 in 100 on fab. That’s quite a lot ?

Search on the BBC news website for 'fabswingers' gave me 24 July as the last mention.

Given the publicity I suspect the site will become far more popular before any potential repercussions (though I have no idea what they would even be) might be applied.

What pressure from a news outlet could cause the people who run this site not to be able to cope?

Exactly as well as trying to implement the licence fee for Netflix ect subscribers, people have been cancelling in droves last year or so

Bad publicity for who ?

Fab have done nothing illegal . How can the publicity have negative repercussions for the web site ?

It's like saying - A man beat his wife up in Tescos so she goes to the BBC to talk about how Tescos were responsible for what happened and the he used to force her to go out for turkey twizzlers and then show him photographs of her shopping.

The BBC should know better than to criticise other people’s private sex lives, it’s a den of depravity.

What annoys me is that the discourse never has any balance with the rights for people to explore their sexual freedom. People like Jess Phillips saying shut it down rather than having a constructive conversation about how we make it easier to talk about sexual freedom and how we can improve safety.

A company of mine was subject to an undercover panarama investigation. We were a subprime mortgage company when it was self regulating. The day following the documentary being broadcast was the busiest day in the history of the company and it was a free national advertisement to those who had poor credit etc and they now knew that we would lend them even more money having been decided by the high street lenders so I’d imagine subscriber’s will increase due to the great advertising.

Nahhhh, fabs too fun to let it end,

Typical bbc tho, choosing 1 or 2 bad stories to go public with, not asking anyone else on here for any good stories like the good community support etc the majority experience.

What's weirder, is BBC done free advertising for fab. To a massive audience. Regardless of the content of the tabloid. Curious minds will be curious minds. And fab will likely see a surge in people registering just to see if its as bad as they made out.

I'll still be here. I feel it's my responsibility not to get into situations that I'm not happy with not the site. When I've reported a real creep they took action and he's gone. The block button means anyone who doesn't feel right cannot contact you anymore.

I think fab will outlive the BBC.

The beeb is on its knees and has been for sometime. It would take a monumental turnaround to save it and I can’t see that happening. It’s too stuck in it’s ways. They are making massive cuts everywhere and each time they do that, they lose more license fees, each time they lose license fees they make more cuts. It’s just not sustainable.

I challenge that it was bad publicity anyway. Fab is just a reflection of wider society and, in my opinion, women on here are safer from coercive behaviour, more aware, more careful, more street wise than those without the fab experience.

I am not, in anyway, diminishing the appalling acts of some husbands and my total support for the victims. I just think more of it goes on outside fab than in it.

Here, inside fab, it's more likely to be noticed and called out.

I don't think so. If you're on here with no bad intentions, then there's nothing to worry about.

I have said this on another post, anything that brings up the need for consent or encourages people not to share others pics /ensure everyone is happy, is a good thing in my eyes.
