There have been a few threads on the unlikely excuses people 0have received for someone not being able to meet, but have you ever had to give an excuse for cancelling a meet that sounded unlikely but was actually true?
I'll go first...years ago, on the morning when I was supposed to meet a couple in the evening, a wasp got into my car and I got stung on the cheek. It didn't immediately swell up and I thought I'd still be able to meet that evening. Obviously not! By late afternoon it was well swollen and I had to cancel. They probably thought it was a made up excuse but I followed up with a photo and got a second chance! |

"A guy I was meeting jokingly said he expected me to cancel on the day saying I had a flat tyre. On the day I went out to my car, and I had an actual flat tyre. "
If someone lived a little bit of a distance away I'd need a FaceTime call showing the actual tyre to recover trust from that, if I didn't know someone well.

I was really late once because I couldn't find matching shoes.
It was well over a decade ago so I can't remember if I arrived with matching shoes.
I've had to cancel before as I had a bad stomach... it just sounds like such a weak reason and it's not exactly a sexy thing to discuss that you didn't trust something wouldn't happen. |

I got my thumb trapped in a heavy machine at work a while back when I was supposed to be meeting a lady.
Ripped all nail and the nail bed out of the thumb. I sent evidence, but I'm not sure she appreciated it.

"Ive used exhaustion more than once. Some evenings im good for nothing and will have to crash out before 2100"
Sometimes that's the most honest answer you can give. I've been too tired to meet before. Also, had to cancel because my kitchen sink backed up and flooded the kitchen. This was when someone was coming over to mine but luckily she hadn't set out yet. |
