If you are genuine about it, then you have to have a real conversation and take it from there. Rushing it would be a mistake, but if you both want to do it and take your time to find the right dynamic, then it’s an amazing experience.

OP, first you need to get a wife. Second discuss it with her and only progress if she is 100% happy and consents. Thirdly, ease yourself in and make sure you are both 100% happy.
Downsides......she prefers the new guy to you, dumps you and runs away leaving you on your own to do your own ironing and washing up. Or you feel inadequate afterwards, turn to drink, drive your car off a local bridge and leave her all alone to do her own ironing and washing up.
