Hi all
I know that some guys pretend they have a female partner to attract women. But I’ve had an encounter with a man who seems to be using a fake wife to repel women!
I’m not upset about the interaction, just curious as to what on earth he’s doing!
I started chatting to a man on his single-man profile. Getting on ok. I asked what he was looking for. He said he liked to chat on Fab, then have a social, then meet at a hotel (all good).
He also said that he wanted to screenshot our conversations and share them with his wife because she got off on that. This was the first mention of a wife.
I said that I wanted to chat to her first because it would feel a little exposing to have my private thoughts shared with someone I’d never spoken to.
He wouldn’t give me their couple profile name but said he’d set up a Kik group so we could all chat. Fine.
A Kik group of three was set up (me, him on a year-old profile and “her” on a week-old profile - we’ve only been chatting for a couple of days).
On the Kik group, “she” was first unavailable because she was asleep, then in the shower. Eventually she said “hi” and nothing more. I waited a day for her to answer my “hello, how are you?”, while he falls silent on Fab, then blocked them “both”.
So, I’m curious. Why invent a fake wife in this way? Why go to the trouble of creating a Kik group then not bother chatting as “her” to continue the charade?
The prospect of him sharing our conversations with her put me off meeting him so he could have, at that point, said “that's fine, we meet separately anyway” and carried on chatting. But he insisted she was real, to the point of creating her on Kik.
What’s going on?!

Just didn't have the ability to keep the pretence up or maybe the nerves and guilt of what he was attempting to do got the better of him and in your case he didn’t need to invent the wife |

Yes that could be it. I was being gently insistent about my wish to chat directly to her if she wete to be involved. |

Yes don't blame you I would always advise chatting to the other woman in any couple situation at the earliest point possible to save wasting your time but that guy didn't even need to invent her |

Weird doesn’t cover it. But there are a few guys out there who want the wife to be involved. Set up profiles for the wife without her knowledge and pester them to swing, watch, play, etc.
This could be one where the wife/partner had no interest and he sprang a Kik chat on her. It’s amazing that he wasted a response from a sexy woman on a half-baked fantasy! |

When I was using Craigslist this kind of crap went on all the time. Sometimes there was a wife, and sometimes it would be some sad loon playing both parts. I once went to a meet having spoken to ‘both’ online where the man met me outside the pub and asked if I could roleplay being his work colleague and not mention our ‘previous interaction’ because that’s what his wife wanted. It didn’t take long to figure out that she knew nothing about it and the whole thing had been an elaborate ploy by him to get her to fuck someone else while he watched without her knowledge. |

Very weird to go to those lengths, only other thing I can think of is that he wanted to show you he had "permission" to play separately when his wife probably knows nothing about Fab or his membership of the site - although why go to those lengths rather than just lie about being attached is beyond me (not that I'd condone either).
As the old saying goes if it smells of fish it's usually fishy - blocking is the best step to have taken. Nowt so queer and all that  |

I think most peps replying are like the OP starting from the wrong premiss:
Probably the only truthful thing he said was "i like to chat on fabs"
He had/has absolutly no intention of meeting anyone/anytime. therefore the bogus wife gives him his out.
Setting up false accounts on kik or what ever are easy if youve got lots of time to spare, and well worth it for the wank.

Maybe his wife is real, had agreed to this scenario then went off the idea. It still doesn't explain the need to screenshot. Unless he was trying to get your written permission to show your private conversation and possibly pictures  to other people... |

I thought of this, too. Why would he need your permission to show your messages, where he can just do it anyway. But of course, if pictures are involved, then he’s absolved from being charged with revenge porn. |

The things that were invented by someone I once knew make a fake wife pale into insignificance. I catch myself out if I so much as think about telling a lie. How people do it, or why people do it will always be totally baffling to me.
Some people are just weird or desperate of just total loons

I'd go with this. We've had a meet where we're 99% sure the wife had no idea what it was. Couldn't confirm it because it didn't last more than 5 minutes but it's the most logical explanation. |

I stopped using Kik a few years ago - I only use WhatsApp as then people have to share their phone number and often stops idiots who have no intention of meeting - just like the thrill.
If they want to share my body then they are expected to share their phone number. |
