I first went to Canal Street in 1983 shortly after having arrived as a student in Manchester. Back then it was just an anonymous down-at-heel back street. I went in with a mixed group of students a few times. We had no idea it was a gay pub until, I think the third visit, it was just convenient. Copies of the Gay News on the bar should have been a giveaway. We were 18 and a bit naive I guess. I have not been back since the whole centre of Manchester has been transformed but it is on the to do list. |

Not been for a few years now...but had some epic nights out there.
I hear things have changed...T girls not welcome in Rems?
