My old Land rover, was an amazing car but the gearbox completely died so it was only good for scrap so being given it back would be pointless.
I'm very much a "it gets me from A to B" when it comes to cars so I doubt I'd turn anything free down (maybe a Smart Car as couldn't fit any tools & materials in).
Though it would be a proper ball ache to find myself just given a high end sports car as the cost of insuring would be making this gift a very poisoned apple. |

Engine repaired after a lot of arguments. There was warranty on car which JLR knew about but did not tell me. This due to JLR using all records online . Warranty , servicing etc. It was local garage who actually said car under warranty. Once contacted JLR . Work was done . In fact replacement car supplied up until my car replaced. I was given brand new Epace . It was only car available . Sold car once work done. |

My current car is like Christine, it won't let me think about buying a replacement. Every time I think about it the engine warning light comes on.
It even activated the brakes when I was pulling out of a car park exit that had bad visibility and stopped a split second just as I spotted a car comming and then I braked.
I wouldn't buy any electric, any German, any Russian cars.

"Range Rover Evoque."
Or other vehicles of that ilk such as the BMW X series. Just the road tax and other costs are ridiculous for something I don't like and feel a bit of a dick driving around in. Plus in the current second hand market you can't give them away.
To be fair I'd never turn down a free car, but I definitely wouldn't drive one of these, just cash it in for what it's worth.

As an Audi owner, i resent this.
I do over 150 miles a day on the M25 and the 3rd lane morons drive me insane. It wont matter if the road is 50 lanes wide if drivers refuse to keep left.
That said, i am not saying i tail gate anyone but i will undertake you if you refuse to drive in the correct lane.

"the 3rd lane morons drive me insane. It wont matter if the road is 50 lanes wide if drivers refuse to keep left."
Driving standards have dropped over the years, but since people stopped/were not supposed to be out and driving a few years ago, the quality of many people's driving has been anihilated. People drive in the wrong lanes/don't keep left; they drive right up behind you even at speed; use of indicators is apparently optional; merging in turn has been forgotten. And don't get me started on the delivery drivers on their L-Plate bikes who haven't the first clue about how to use the road!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬 |

The car industry is thriving because we all want/need one and we're constantly being told that we have to have the latest model with the most gizmos. It's all bollocks.
Just don't believe the bullshit rhetoric we're continually being fed ad nauseum about how wonderful electric cars are and how, by shelling out for one, you're doing your bit for the Pandas. |
