Without naming names…

Does the OP or people commenting on a thread stop you from commenting on it yourself

Or

Does the OP or people commenting on mean you’re more likely to respond

I am getting grumpier in my older age and will be honest and admit that if I see certain people responding or responding in a certain way o just avoid the post

I won’t get involved on threads in certain topics, more so than who is posting. But if I recognise someone as habitually throwing gtenades I’ll skip past the thread on that basis.

People I like make crap threads and I don't post.

People I don't like make quite good ones and I will.

I don't really care to be honest.

Sometimes I comment when I know the person doesn't like me, just because I'm feeling that way out.

If the OP has blocked me then I see no merit in promoting their thread. Pettiness is a reason too petty for my liking. 🙂

Only depends on the content...wouldn't bother me who it was, but it might depend how the thread developed as to whether I'd post.

Not really, if I like the thread I’ll post

Don’t think I’ve avoided a thread because of the op although I’m sure mine annoy some people

I try to avoid the trolls but have found myself biting at times. I'd rather just feel sorry for them and their empty lives.

I definitely avoid threads involving those I don't like.

In a 'I dont want to play with you' kind of way.

If the post or comments are passive/aggressive, ragebaiting, gaslighting, or unproductive and damaging to the lifestyle or people in general, I will never comment.

It's my choice to engage or avoid.

Being just 54, I get less tolerant of what I perceive to be idiots, so I just walk on. I don't give them oxygen.

There are a handful of firestarting thread starters that I avoid. I don't even open most of their threads.

There are a couple of others I have zero history with and have never spoken to or engaged with directly but who don't seem to like what I have to say.

They have made it their mission to have a dig every now and again so I tend to ignore and avoid any thread they are extolling their own virtues on.

Funnily enough most of these people seem popular on the forums but there's no accounting for taste.

Yes I do avoid some posters threads, sometimes because they just post 500 threads that are pointless or a wind up.

Or if they never engaged with me, when I have posted on their threads in the past.

I do look at some threads and then exit, because I know the way they're going to go.

I’m not clever enough for cryptic. Don’t ever put me on the 1% club

Increasingly the answer is yes. Most people have been here long enough and you know how the threads are going to go.

Yep, if I see certain people commenting on a thread, I'll try and avoid adding my own thoughts and opinions. It seems like some think their shit don't stink, and their opinions are the only right ones.

Oh I misread the first post. 🫣

It tends to be more the topic rather than the posters that will put me off.

Some I'll avoid, some depend on the thread, my aresdness in taking the piss or if pointing out the obvious might help the op in anyway.

People can put me off replying to their threads, sure. Sometimes it's a crap topic/ I have no interest in it.

I quite like posting in certain threads when I'm feeling a bit mischievous.

I try to reply to the post rather than the poster but sometimes it's unavoidable. So I avoid replying altogether, even when they comment in a thread I've started.

I think that's perfectly acceptable; I don't see a problem with that because some type of threads are participatory and require frequent 'compering' like the Mønøchrome threads, Nocturnal threads or a Photo Challenge and so forth.

Some threads started by some people (some have gone UNLOS or hidden and not posting I’ve noticed and have made the forum SO MUCH better lately) do make me eyeroll but at the end of the day there is no rule against serial inane posting, so I just avoid those threads- they don’t interest me in the slightest anyway.

At the moment I am really enjoying the music and film related ones. I rarely look at who is commenting.

Depends really. There are some topics I’m just not into so wouldn’t bother regardless. But I’ll comment if a topic interests me, regardless of who started it.

There aren’t many forumites that I find unpleasant these days, it seems a lot more chilled out here.

...

I'm a fairly infrequent poster, dipping in and out - if the thread title is interesting then I'll sometimes comment. I don't pay too much attention to the OP, I only know a handful of folk now

If I've started a thread, i usually ensure everyone gets a reply, especially if I've invited views / opinions. I know it's annoying to some, but for others it makes them feel seen and heard. For me it just feels polite and lets me engage in an easy way.

I'm not a conflict seeker, so i'd need a number of buttons pressing to actively avoid anyone - but if we all thought the same, it would be a boring world... Or would it 🤔🤔🤔

I don't avoid particular posters but I do avoid particular threads

Mostly the *insert nonsense here* kind of threads.

I recognize that those kind of totally random threads are just a way to hang out and chat with people that are familiar but I also think they breed an insider mind set that sets up an exclusionary culture that's full of in jokes and can't be penetrated by newcomers.

And let's face it. We're all here for a bit of penetration.
