I need a break, but don't have anything booked at the moment. I've been researching where to go but getting overwhelmed with options as I'm not really sure whether I want a spa break in the sun, or a city break in the sun! 🤦🏻♀️
Anyone fancy organising something for me? |

Went to cape Verde a few weeks ago. It was lovely. We went to boa vista and there was literally nothing outside of our hotel so perhaps not for those who enjoy more of a party vibe lol

"Off to Sicily in a few weeks. What about you OP?
Where in Sicily are you going? That's one of my best places to go in Europe. Have you been before? "
I've been to Sicily and would highly recommend a place called Mondello. Beautiful beach, lots of amazing restaurants and not to far from Palermo.
I went in 2019 and 2020 and barely heard anyone else speaking English, all locals |

Sicily is one of the few places left in Europe that's not full of hotel resorts. Fantastic beaches, food and friendly locals. The perfect place if you have a sense of adventure.
Already planning to go back next year. |

I feel that this thread demonstrates the problem with trying to get people to not fly. The vast bulk of you hop on planes without a second thought other than fun/relaxation/adventure/"a break". The usual rationalisations doubtless apply:
"One more person doesn't make any difference"
"The planes will go anyway"
"I work hard and I deserve a holiday"
"It's up to governments/corporations to do something - individual citizens don't make any difference"
.
I know you all like your break. I know you're (mostly) actually quite considerate and decent people. I'm not trying to be a killjoy, or a Jonah. I know this isn't likely to go down well on a holiday thread.
.
I'm going to ask anyway... please give a thought to the damage that frivolous air travel and overconsumption is doing to our world. Every tiny action, like deciding not to travel by air, makes a tiny difference. If enough of us change our behaviour, we can make a collective difference to help mitigate climate breakdown. Rage hard against the dying of the light...
.
Alternatively, maybe it's already too late. 🤷🏼♀️
Peace.

I'm sorry, but I won't feel guilty for my 6-10 flights a year while the rich and famous fly to space for fun.
When the politicians settle for a zoom call instead of a state visit and millionaire/billionaires stop flying daily/weekly, I'll think about reducing my flights. |

Oh that’s good to know! I’ve done Sardinia many times but this will be the first trip to Sicily.
Mondello is on the list! I’m splitting my time between Trapani, Palermo and Cefalu. Slightly underestimated how big the island is! |

We went for the first time last year and I was a bit dubious about it but absolutely loved it. Have stocked up on books to take as the 2 I took last time were finished within days 😂 |

Well my pay rise is going though, so want to book a few days in October/November somewhere in Eastern Europe, maybe Budapest or Poland.
Did go to Amsterdam for my birthday at the beginning of the year which was nice |

I've done Catania, Toarmina, Milazzo and the Aoelian islands twice. Palermo, Cefalu and Trapani on the list for next year. Yes the island is huge, so much to see and do. You might bump into Ray Winston, he lives in Sicily |

Well, I was going to go on holiday to somewhere in Dorset, then I changed my mind and actually booked somewhere in Cornwall, then my eldest teen said he didn’t want to go away with me as I’m boring 😭😭😭 so I cancelled it and now we are going nowhere.
I may get myself a one way ticket to Benidorm and live my best life pinging ping pong balls out of my furry fanny for the tourists…
Or I may just book another holiday somewhere else….. |

I'm sure your fanny's ping pong skills would draw an appreciative crowd wherever you go |
